Hi Everyone,
My girlfriend insisted we moved from the dormitories. So, we rented an apartment about 10 minutes away from our Shunyi, Beijing campus.
With no traffic, such as at midnight, it merely takes a ten-minute taxicab drive.
With traffic, it would probably take an hour.
I estimate the distance to be around 3 miles.
1. What would you guys suggest doing?
Riding a bike, buying a gas or electric moped, buying a motorcycle, etc.?
New or used?
2. Where would I buy this?
Thanks

Change girlfriends and move back closer to your job is one solution.
Another - ask some of the people who have ebikes, escooters, etc. for advice on where to get those locally. Maybe try a short term rental before buying one.

electric scooter all the way.
That's the best way to get around beijing with bo hassles etc... Get a decent brand like NIU with built in GPS tracker etc to avoid having it stolen. The battery life is even good enough to get you downtown and back in some cases.
Honestly, 14 years in Beijing, that's the best transport way ever.

Nolefan,
Thanks for the advice.
Where do I buy this scooter? Any brand names, etc.?

Thanks, I was hoping for more elaboration, such as people in the US are motorcycles, etc. more.

NIU shops are all over town and reliable for service. Look for one close to your area since that will be the one you most likely head to for maintenance etc..

Thank you. Your answer helped give me some clarity.
NIU it is!
I will make sure to get a helmet. I do not want to die by the Beijing crazy traffic.
