I just found these books this summer and they look absolutely perfect for Chinese university classes. They are actually modern and relevant, plus the course is structured in a way that suits a semester. I have not tried them out yet with large classes, but I have taught at universities in China for a few years.
I was also using the Time Zones books for teaching teens and they are really good, but I haven't tried the ones for young learners
I have found that most books for teens and adults need way too much from the teacher because they are basically the same as from the 90s in that magazine format which doesn't work for young people now. And of course the books that they give you at the universityies in China are just absolutely ridiculous. These have TED talks and online homework etc
