Actually, there is no mandatory retirement age for politicians, that I'm aware of....they just keep mouldering on, as long as they can get re-elected......

Me too - not Pauline fans?

Howard and his cohorts are xenophobes.  They would love to turn the clocks back to the 'good old days' of the White Australia Policy.

Goodbye - and the fish stank.

I think I know who wants to turn the clocks back and it ain't Howard.

Pauline left a bad taste in my mouth for all fish and chips.

Almost everyone in power over 60 wants to turn the clocks back to the good old days.

Almost everyone under about 40 who is in power wants to change it. Those 40 - 60 want to keep the status quo, (even though they broke up years ago and weren't much chop even then.)

It's a human thing.

NB. Figures are guessed at. Precise figures are unknown, at least to me, and probably variable.

Post script: I made this up.

 Lotus bets Howard loses.

No one can bear to answer! That's a bad sign.

I'll vote Howard's gang wins again.

OK - I want Howard out just as most Australians want.

Did anyone see his recent introduction at the NRL Grand Final?

We need to vote for the right reasons and not just because we don't like Howard.  Things like policies for housing, schools, health, the economy etc are most important.

What was his reception at the NRL Grand Final, phets? Probably the same at the AFL G/F, but I didn't see that either.

Okay I WANT Howard to lose, and I BELIEVE that he will lose.  Still, I ain't counting my chickens until they've submitted their ballot papers.  Labour has about a 10% lead over the Liberals at the moment, and I can't see that changing much.  Indeed, 'twould be a miracle/disaster if the Libs did claw that lead back, but in 5 weeks, in Australia, c'mon now.  I'm not saying that Howard won't try every dirty trick in the book, of course he will, but I think the people are a bit tired of his tricks now.

George and Lotus, remember what the mood was like in 1972?  Well, it's like that again, you can smell the need for change in the air.

On the night of the election Newbs and colleagues from work are planning a "Don's Party".  Hope our Don's Party turns out better than the original.

He was booed pretty badly - he just laughed at it.  Heard many footy commentators say they hadn't see that kind of reception for a vip in quite long time.

The timing isn't good for him. The Iraq invasion has started to get up everyone's noses - and the stuff coming out re US involvement in dodgy deals over there isn't helping.  He can't really pull another children overboard thing again, the Aboriginal thing hit too early for him - although he may try to campaign on his response to it.  He is trying on the environment, but I think it's too little too late.  The new workplace laws will keep the died-in-the-wool liberals and business on side - but Labor is not after them anyway.

Now if the US could organise Osama to bomb an Oz Embassy somewhere .....
