Any Way to Ever Have a Barbecue Set in Beijing?
« on: September 13, 2021, 03:05:05 AM »
Hi Everyone,

1.  Last year, I bought a brand new coal barbeque charcoal set from TaoBao.

However, an administrator at school said we had to stop, because of the "fire hazard".

2.  From asking around, it appears many apartment complexes, even in the grass commons, do not allow barbeques.

3.  Despite these bans, I see a lot of street vendors selling.

4.  Is there a way I can ever use my BBQ in Beijing?  What are the laws I can track down?  Can my school simply enjoy BBQ meat, that I can get from South African merchants and cook on my own set?

I have seen people set up personal BBQs in parks a few times.

Before asking to chat with whoever is in charge of the park, make sure the current air quality is acceptable.  Even the BBQ stands can get shut down sometimes when there's some sort of atmospheric inversion that concentrates pollutants at ground level.  Obviously, if it's a dry time of year and the foliage is on the flammable side, that's also not a good time to make BBQ plans.
