Any problems with Let's Encrypt in China?
« on: July 28, 2016, 03:27:28 PM »
Curious if anyone's had problems with sites using the Let's Encrypt certificates. I'm getting allTEFL.com ready for public launch (check out the domain, a bare bones version is up now), and am debating whether or not to have the whole site https. That would be my preference, but not if it's going to make the site unusable in China.

I just visited the Let's Encrypt website. Presumably they use the Let's Encrypt certificates for their https, and I got through just fine. So, with an n=1, Let's Encrypt certificates are finearoonie in China.

What about gravatar? I remember them blocking Wordpress a while back...is gravatar also down? One of the challenges of developing a site that hopefully will have on two of traffic from China is avoiding use of blocked web technologies.

Looks okay. I just now briefly looked over https://en.gravatar.com and https://blog.gravatar.com (using IE with no script blockers and no Ninjas), and they both appear to mostly work. On the blog pages, some commenters' gravatars failed to appear, but the rest of the content did. You'll probably want a more extensive testing regime.
