Title: Holiday
Post by: George on March 05, 2014, 06:30:03 PM
Yes, Holiday, so not exactly pics of home. Holiday was..ahem..in Dec-Jan, and it has taken this long for me to get organized enough. We drove from Melbourne west to Port Fairy, to Mt Gambier to Kingston to Victor Harbor to Kangaroo Island, then back through McLarenvale, Strathalbyn and home through Bordertown, Nhill, Ballarat. Check Google maps.
Bugger! I'm having problems with Photobucket. I'll get back to you.

Ok. That works. Lotta tired tourists in Port Fairy.
Some touros took the coach. The Babe got the front seat.

This little bloke was happy to pose.

Good to know you had a holiday and it is great to see that you have dragged your camera out of the cupboard. Look forward to more.

Not quite, X, but it is one of the earliest settlements in Victoria. Still has many magic old buildings, such as the one in the background.

Mt. Gambiers Blue Lake. Tis an extinct volcano full of water which is totally blue for most months of the year. It turns grey for a couple months in winter, if I remember correctly.

Riverboat on the Murray River at Goolwa. I played around with photoshop.

A pretty pathetic tourist attraction on Kangaroo Island. They actually had two magpies, alone, in separate cages, on display. As every Australian knows, the magpie is everywhere in Australia, and is a very sociable bird. They don't need cages. I was pissed off by this place.

These are Remarkable Rocks..a giant granite rock, similar in origin to Ayers Rock in Central Australia. The separate rocks on top have been eroded by wind and water into very strange shapes.

Kangaroo Island was originally populated by sealers, hunting these little fellows for skins and oil.

Plenty of scenic beach scenes on Kangaroo Island, but too bloody cold for swimming.

Early morning at our campsite at American River, Kangaroo Island.

As K.I is an island, this is how we travelled.

Takes about 45 minutes. That's the Island in the top-left corner.

Our camp.
