Confuse your students....

Look at the following table of words - the task is, to read out the Colour it is displayed in and not the Word.
E.g. For ORANGE you would say "Blue".
The left and the right side of the brain conflict each other.

BLUE BLACK RED ORANGE GREEN
YELLOW PINK SILVER WHITE PINK
GREEN ORANGE YELLOW BLACK SILVER
RED WHITE BLUE PURPLE BLACK

Record Times for this task

0 - 10 seconds : Expert
10 - 15 seconds : Excellent
15 - 20 seconds : Very Good
20 - 30 seconds : Average
30 - 40 seconds : Keep Trying
40 Seconds and above : Try Harder

Yeah - I`m an expert!!  I think it has more to do with your orientation than brain conflicts. I am very printed word oriented so I see the words before I process the colours. If you are more oriented to shapes, colours etc, then that it what you see and process first.

And I think in a second language the students would read the words and process them bvefore the colours - a translation process. But worth an experiment.
