Folks..
I've mentioned this tons of times before but just never really got around to it. But we're upgrading!!
I'm moving this puppy up to using SMF 2 which should give us a whole bunch of new options and functionality. So not only is it new lipstick, it's a whole new pig.
What to expect?
1- Upgrade to take place this week!
2- The Smileys and lounges might disappear for a little while
3- better security
4- Lightweight responsive theme that works on all those pesky mobile devices.
5- a sleep deprived Nolefan.
Seriously though, this is gonna be fine and other than the smiley issue and the lounges that use a special plugin, i don't think we have to worry about anything. The whole baby is backed up in case we need to switch back.

looking at doing both.. the new design is responsive so it will adapt to any mobile device. Adding tapatalk will be the next step.

I don't understand modern technology and don't use a mobile phone or any gadgets I see people using . I hope that I will still be able to access the Saloon. Hope all goes well Noles and thank you for the work you do to keep Raoul's Saloon going. agagagagag

Dear piglet - you are welcome anytime. Maybe these V4 things make a bigger bang than a V2.
I heard that the Chinese plan to blow some smog in our direction so your atropine needle may come in handy. It would be nice if you could bring more than one needle.
PS I agree with you on the subject Noles gave for this post. I thought he was going to announce that it was your birthday.

The thing I used was new posts in threads I posted in and then new posts. I can't find a way to see these which means I will probably miss 90% of the posts I was following. llllllllll llllllllll

Missed that, too at first look. They're in the top menu bar (above the title). The avatar icon, third from the left. Both choices in the pull down menu.

the "unread topics" and "new replies" link is at the TOP LEFT HAND corner of the screen, 3rd icon from the left... hover the mouse over and you see the links.

Wildly differing font sizes - still boggle eyed
That useful black bar at the bottom with the lengthy and complete you-are-here information - has to go.
It grows more obtrusive, the deeper into some subsection one wanders. Particularly noticeable in the tech section.
Are people not posting because they're not liking the skin or am I just noticing a normal lull?

I noticed that bar on the bottom. It's just like the old lady on the first floor; irritating, conspicuously unnecessary and useless. So I just ignore it. I also ignore that bar on the bottom

You get logged off now after awhile. I used to stay logged on until I chose to log off. Hope this can be fixed. agagagagag

Hey Noles, is there any way to alter the pictures' download? I have a world of trouble with foto-bucket. I've been on some sites that allow simple pic posting straight from the 'puter. Is this do-able

It does take a bit of getting used to. I was really used to the forum being dark with a funny picture at the top

It's very google holo light. (http://developer.android.com/design/style/themes.html) Perhaps there's a dark version somewhere.
In other news, the black bar is troublesome seemingly because the forum subsections have such long names. They wrap around and the bar oozes up the screen.

I guess it depends on your resolution and screen size. I've looked for the longest forum and thread title I could find and had no issues but I could see how it might be a bit obtrusive at 1024x768 or something.

Huh. I just checked. On Google Chrome, the preferred browser of this correspondent, I have magnification set at 125%. bibibibibi Putting it back to 100% makes the differences in fonts much less noticeable (possibly because so tiny), and the black bar still creeps up (21" monitor, 1680x1050 resolution, but I don't have the browser full screen...)
No such issues on my phone, btw.
Ergo, perhaps not the forum settings but my own.
