... I don't have any sponsored children there ...
YET
Hee hee! Just before getting on this trip, I did get a new one from another town in Hunan. A lot of mine are various minority nationalities. The new one is Yao.
I do need to pick one more soon. One of mine recently "fired" me . Her family's financial situation improved enough that she didn't need assistance anymore. This is the second time that's happened.

I have this image of you in my head which is probably totally wrong. you seem really American but found America in China or something haha. I'm sure I saw a picture of you as a guy with a big beard
But you live in the countryside and raise millions of kids?
I don't even have words for what I found in China. I've written pages and pages. I've written poems. I can get pieces of it, but there's always so much more that I don't know how to express. I just know I love it here.
Yep, I've still got the beard and long hair. Sadly, the hair isn't quite as long and is getting thin. Happily other than the beard, the greying is quite minimal. The power of Just For Men Mustache and Beard dye really helps in dealing with the grey invasion of my beard.
I do live in a lovely little village, but it's part of a city of about 10 million people, so the countryside aspect is a little lacking in fields and forests. I don't actually get to raise the kids (a couple dozen so far), but I have gotten to visit many of them (and some of them are waaaay out in the countryside).
Guangzhou??? I've been there (tourist stuff, consulate stuff, airport and train station), but I've always lived in Dongguan. I started off in town during my teaching stint, but have been a villager ever since then.
There's an old African proverb that says "Only a fool tests the depth of the water with both feet." That's why I always take a deep breath and dive in head first.
