He also killed a couple of his US sites.  I guess he's got better ways to try to make money.  Too bad he didn't put Shanghaiist on the market.  Someone might have bought it.

media is not an easy field... someone has to pay for the bills, salaries etc... in an age where we expect everything online for free.

The workers unionized because they needed to, in order to cover their ass. The boss then decided to close shop because he needed to... in order to cover his ass.
