China scam patrol is the outlet for somebody that used to frequent various forums in China, including this one, under lots of names. He was 'Wagner' on this one.

Commonly known as the China Foreign Teachers Union.

Nobody ever really figured out what he was up to, but consensus seems to be that he was a conman of some kind; trying to extort money from companies in return for not planting stories about them.

Anyway, anything china scam patrol can be discounted as fiction.

Or maybe he was the only person in China telling the truth, and the rest of us were just fake news, before we even knew what fake news was. A troll ahead of his time.

If any of you miss Wagner, take a stroll down memory lane with this thread

Although Wagner was fake, following the links in this can take you here:

https://www.eslwatch.info/en/eslwatch-forum/china/76-china-foreign-teachers-unite-report-fake-unqualified-teachers-to-the-psb.html?start=206

Scroll down to the post by Koreana and there's a Chinese government email address allegedly associated with rewards for turning in fakes.  Even though Wagner was prone to unsupportable hysteria, there may be a real story behind the latest over the top claims by his group.

(a) they use adblock detectors
(b) on the shaded screen behind the "turn off your adblock" popup" I saw no email address
(c) the Chinese government does that?

An email address to report foreign employees working under fraudulent credentials seems like.... nah, that's the gov accepting too much accountability, and at a national level too. Imma go with "that doesn't seem very likely". I mean, a public email address like that would be abused almost immediately just because it's out there. It's also about the least professional way to go about monitoring and policing foreign employment in China, not to mention border protection of some kind.

Seems bogus man.

One way to find out.  Have someone who reads/writes Chinese very well pop an email to the address (rewards at mps.gov.cn) and ask if there's any sort of "send us FTs with bad credentials" program or not.

Didn't think she'd do it, but she did.  Message was sent yesterday.  It didn't bounce, but there's been no reply yet.

And it bounced.

She's trying one more time from another email address.

Edit:  Wow, much quicker this time.  Bounced and said address does NOT exist.

So, looks like Wagner and his buddies are spewing BS again.  Too bad, there really are teachers with fake credentials who need to be dealt with.  I personally think false information like this being spread by China Scam Patrol will only make it harder for the authorities to do their jobs.

Unless anyone objects, I think this thread should be moved either to the BS Wrestling Pit or else upstairs to reduce the chances of some visitor reading only the first posts and thinking it's real.

I just can't figure out the motive.  This isn't just an urban myth gone bad.  "I heard there's a reward" is far different from posting story along with a fake government email address to file reports.

The National Enquirer sells advertisements.  How do these people make money off of promoting stories even the Enquirer wouldn't bother with?
