Makeup stuff: oil-based cleansers?
« on: May 05, 2017, 06:18:23 PM »
What's an example of an oil-based cleanser (makeup remover) in China?

Cheap options are good. I'll be using it primarily to manage sunscreen.

I want to remove the sunscreen, not the skin as well.

Then baijiu and lotion, I suggest maybe sunscreen.

I have acquired what is probably this:

Wasn't counting on a "brightening" effect - my bottle says "Nivea Men Oil Control" and the rest is in characters... and presumably says "brightening mud serum foam"  bibibibibi

like Alexander the Great.

When Alexander the Great entered the tent of defeated King Darius after the battle of Issos, [he said, "Bitch, please!" and] threw out the king's makeup box of priceless grooming ointments and perfumes. Ironically, after Alexander had traveled extensively in Asia, he too became addicted to men’s grooming, makeup and aromatics. He sent plant cuttings to his Athenian classmate in Athens from everywhere he traveled. His classmate then used the cuttings to establish a botanical garden in Athens to create skin care, makeup and grooming products.

Re the mud serum.... first off, I do know it's a cleanser, but I don't know if it's oil or water based. It says "oil control" but, like....

Anyway, for science, I did the test: in the shower after a sunscreened bicycle ride, Nivea man oil down the right side and supermarket soap down the left... I couldn't really tell if one was better than the other as far as shifting the greasy sunscreen trail from my person. The Nivea cleanser is a black liquid, which is certainly manly, and it smells funny, but.... so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

the gold standard for oil cleansers would seem to be DHC

It's japanese. Anyone seen it in China?

According to a student turned grey market reseller of makeups, Maybelline is a good supermarket brand in China for makeup, and they have a recommended lip and eye makeup remover, oil-based.

So, you know, my choice? Maybe it's....
