Numbers in China
« on: December 03, 2013, 02:02:21 PM »
China does some things really well and when I go back to New Zealand I pass on some of the things I have learned here.

For example, trucks have their plate numbers stenciled in very large numbers/letters on the rear wall or door. No matter how covered in dust or mud the number plate may be an accident victim can still get the number of an offending truck.

On Sunday, while waiting for a bus, I came across 'numbers with Chinese characteristics.'

I am guessing that the owner was making some effort to avoid the fines derived from those flashing cameras located around every city margin:

The mirror to the left of the plate could haze out numbers on that side. That on the right has gone missing, but the shiny metal bracket could have the same effect on the numbers on that side. I reckon!

I have my standards. They may be low, but I have them.
