I think I said it on here at the time when there was that scandal about the English guy in Beijing and I definitely said it somewhere. Things like that will blow over quickly because there will be a Chinese guy does something 20 times worse a week or two later....

Oh maybe I got mixed up, exactly the same sentinment.... I just looked at Angles/Devils one again and they had 'an evolving attitude to foreigners' captioning a picture of two tourists doing one of those 'dress up in traditional costumes and get your picture taken' things  |

The Global Times is pathetic. No one cares about foreign trash anymore. The big issue on weibo these days is how many people really died in the Beijing floods last weekend (and prior to that, the mall fire in Tianjin) and how long the government can cover it up.

I don't understand the logic of having a piece debating if foreigners are good or evil- on a website targeting an English-speaking audience. Are we supposed to see that and do some self examination - we can either be devils or angles so this must be motivation for us to be more virtuous in our lives? Really? Really?
Or is this whole website just meant to be an English language learning tool for Chinese people.

Specially since the 4 foreigners featured in the Devils section were all from different continents!
I suppose it's the same with the Daily Mail in England though, the most successful tabloids don't have any ideology other than selling papers so they are always trying to cause trouble and just tend to be one long facepalm....

Hate to tell you big city folk this but no one here gives a crap about your flood and how many people have died. We've had hundreds die this year in Hunan from flooding and landslides. What everybody here is taiking about on Weibo and QQ (we also talk face to face) is the the problem of worms in the frogs. It's devastating to most of us not to be able to eat bullfrog and pickled hot yellow peppers. There are absolutely no problems between Chinese and foreigners here and no one is checking any ID's or raiding training centres or bars. We all just get drunk together as God intended. You maybe start off white, black, brown, yellow or red but by the end of the night everybody is green. |
