Babs I had the FEC thing happen with a teacher of mine back when I was a DOS in 2006. Luckily he was in-country and his old school was in the same city as ours so I just called up his previous DOS and went down to the school and she turned over his FEC (that was a school that held onto them) and we turned it over to the PSB. After that everything was fine. Do you think you could do something similar?

I should add that normally the FEC would just expire on its own but our new teacher had left his job before his contract was finished. He had a release letter but the school did not cancel his FEC and so when we went to try and apply for a new letter of invitation for him we were blocked.

It sucks that this has happened to you piglet and I hope your school can get it sorted, but it is good for our newbies to now have actual evidence that signing 2 contracts at once won't necessarily end well.

It didn't happen exactly like that Fozz. I got the letter from Potential employer 1 and discovered they had "forgotten" to include Mr Piglet ie he would not be able to get a visa.I therefore informed them we would not be able to come to them and immediately contacted backup employer number 2 who sent us their LOI.
I strongly suspect that Potential Employer #1 has decided to punish us by refusing to cancel the LOI even though it is now irrelevant since it is now July 2012.  th_as

Update: potential employer 1 has now been contacted and agreed to cancel said LOI so all systems are apparently "go" we hope-let's just hope it doesn't take too long. And BTW lovely airline says it IS a flexi ticket so we can change/cancel departure date with no extra charge but not return half?? weird right?

So... what happened in the end? I assume you're in China now and everything 'worked out'.
