Once again, it's time for the Kanuckistani national anthem.  canada_a-01

O Canada!
Our cold and icy land!
Our breweries make the beer thy sons command.
With freezing feet we see thee rise,
The Cold North all snowy!
From far and wide,
O Canada, we raise our glass for thee.
God keep our great breweries frosty!
O Canada, we raise our glass for thee.
O Canada, we raise our glass for thee.

I took a trip to Halifax for Canada Day (I booked the ticket before realizing what day it was). It was a fun time. Caught a rather small parade and 15 min of fireworks. Those Canadians sure know how to put on a show.

^^^ I second that emotion - all salute the new flag!

... speaking of Kanuckistan - I'm back in 'our home and NATIVE land' since Friday afternoon til mid August.  The sky is blue, blue, blue... and the populace still largely asleep on the job of burying the reform fascists currently re-imagineering into oblivion what little hope remained of becoming the Kanuckistan we were rumoured to be abroad - kindly, democratic, inclusive and whatnot. Sigh.

...  I was in Yangquan, Shanxi province on the national day. Expecting naught in the form of even a whisper from that far flung northern land, lo - what did I spy while we sat burning gas in stalled traffic?  A hatch-backed thingy, parked, sporting a small Canadian flag on its hind window - in bold black letters beneath it the word MONTREAL ... o_O ... Hence my belated addition to this thread - a salute to the comrades of the Printemps d'Erable who made big music on the streets of Montreal for weeks on end and in diverse numbers, armed with their pots, pans and brave hearts in the face of yet more police brutality.

That's the spirit, Montreal!!!  th_ag Oh, Canada -
