Up front, folks: I'm a relative newbie. Is this to be expected when you go direct to universities? To be sure, I wrote to the first email address I found on a web site I could hardly navigate and asked for help making contact with whomever could say whether this u. was accepting apps. Did I meet a bona fide "opportunist"? Should I warn all to detour around this school? Am I hopelessly naive? (And "Who is Naomi?")

I remember the author, Erica Jong for only 2 things:
1. The first novel I read that had any "real" [sic] sex in it. (And that only shows how OLD I am; it's probably in the kid-lit section now.)
2. She was my first exposure to the long cliched tru-ism: "Advice is what we ask for when we already know what we should do."
That said, I really DO appreciate the re-enforcement. My own weak wisdom hides behind a sign that reads, "No Sage Here. Go away."

Refdesk, I applied to this Uni two years ago when I was first looking at coming to China. I got a nice response from someone there outlining that they wouldn't need anyone until the semester after I was planning to head out. They have a very small team of teachers there (at least they did at that time) maybe three or four. I'm going to PM you the contact's name and details, I haven't used it for two years so not sure if it's still working or not.
