so, as I'm sure you've heard from your students umpteen times in the last few years

, the price of commodities (most noticably foodstuffs) has sky rocketed over the last few years.
I've never taken THAT much notice, I've always just gotten what I've needed and got on with it, tending to live a fairly humble lifestyle (with the occasional blowouts)...
anyway, today I went to Metro to pick up some food for dinner. I packed my trolley with veg and went away and paid, noting that it seemed more expensive that usual, but not thinking too much of it, I was in a hurry.
(here it comes) when I got home I checked the receipt. the price of 2 organic onions? 60 yuan.
I repeat, the price of 2 organic onions? 60 yuan.
Thats about 4 euro a piece.
...
please respond with similar tales of mind-meltingly expensive vegetables.
