You need to find better suppliers Arnold, or take a trip out west.

Yunnan is very beautiful this time of year.

I miss walking my dog in the woods. Not the teeny-tiny bamboo forests they offer here, but huge, sprawling woods. I miss browsing in book stores. I do, sometimes, miss going to the cinema, but then I remember the astronomical ticket prices.

Driving.
When I was in the UK, I really disliked driving, I thought it was a pain in the ass! Now I can't drive where I want, when I want, I realise I took that luxury for granted!

I've also started to dream about driving lately.

Well, I drive here, but I miss driving where people actually follow the rules of the road.

I miss having other women my age with whom I can converse in my own language about things we all understand due to a common cultural background. I don't get this feeling often, but I'm lonely when it hits me. I also have a solution to it if I wanted to pursue expat friendships in the city center.

I miss teaching Sunday school to preschoolers. I know lots of fun songs and stories that I just don't do with my kindie kids here.

Going for runs in the countryside. In Scotland I would leave my flat and be out in farmland in two minutes. In Beijing? I don't think I'd want to run in the farmland.

Watching football/rugby with a big crowd at decent times (i.e. from 1pm onwards)with good beer. Being able to go shopping or have a coffee without billions of people around and having hassle/people staring at you and talking about you.

Western women. Of course I mean looking, not doing! OK, doing. th_bf
Road bicycle, long rides and races without fear of traffic and serious road hazards.
Speaking of bicycles; bicycles big enough for me. No, I'm not that tall, 6'1".
Buying the Sunday New York Times and reading the whole damn thing.
Real gyms that are not an hour away.
Managers who actually answer questions or simply say 'I don't know' when they don't know.
Getting simple honest answers to simple honest questions.
My truck.
Real bacon. Not 'poke'.
Going to a store and looking at the merchandise while all the clerks/salespeople completely ignore me.
At least two dozen other things that I presently cannot recall.

I miss not being a minority

It isn't a big deal, but being noticed just because of my race and not seeing many people who look like me can kind of suck....

Reading a decent english newspaper in my garden with a cup of tea.
Relaxing in the pub on the weekend and watching the football with friends.
Eating food that you can't get in China, the on the other hand I have also eaten a whole range of new food that I like.
