Good KTVs in Shanghai?
«

I know this is a pretty local question, but can anyone recommend a KTV in Shanghai that has a relatively decent selection of English songs? Some of my friends are coming over from the US and I'd really to take them to a KTV and enjoy it for more than just how bizarre the collection of English songs are.
Thanks!

Don't be such a 'wus'!
Take them to one of the all Chinese "Discos" and give them a real 'true life' Chinese modern music experience. You'll need to warn them about the exclusion of westerners from taking a class action for passive smoking inhalation .... but...hey, what's a 'bit of carcinogen' going to do to get in the way of a good time!!
The live acts of midgets smoking out of their ears and 9 and 10 year old girls doing contortion acts will bring smiles and gasps of amazement to your 'foreign' friends.
'nuff' said

Okay, I've been in China for nine months now, and I see these KTVs everywhere.
What actually goes on in them? Surely it can't merely be karaoke.
you haven't lived sir. all manner of shenanigans that dare not face the daylight go on in there, including karaoke.

Don't bother with KTVs Isidnar. They are pretty strange places.
Full of people rock climbing and having philosophy discussions.

Take some of your students out for a KTV party. You'll be amazed at the damage they can do while singing
Hotel California
.
Plus, every now and then, you'll get lucky and find one with amazing singing abilities.

Even those I originally posed this question, I'm happy to report I've been KTV free now for over a year.
That said, I've been telling my husband we need to rent a room for two so he can help me "learn the latest Chinese duet love songs".
Wow, that smiley can really change the meaning of a statement. Honestly, I want to learn some Chinese love songs.

They rent rooms for two by the hour?
That sounds naughty indeed!
(I'm being naughty. Apologies.)
Don't worry about it Isidar, They'll let you rent a room on your own.
