So I have been doing my blog for years, it's quite decent, plenty of music and art on there and it's usually updated a few times a week, but I've never networked it properly. I started trying to do this but for some reason it's incredibly difficult. I've installed plugins to put me on networks and they never authorise, I join sites and then forget about it, I get about 5 emails or comments a year from about 200 posts. It isn't amazing, but I am sure there should be a bit more than that....

Does anyone have any tips? I'm even thinking about paying someone to set it up so I can just write and publish and it appears in lots of places....how much should I pay them

I know there are a few people on here know about this sort of thing....

If I understand you aright, you're wanting to know how to increase traffic on your blog site? th_m

If so...

Try going to other sites with similar interests, and mention your blog there. You can do it as part of genuine participation in that site, or not. It will give you a bit of advertising, and also help in search engine scans. This is why I've spent so much time doing stuff on other forums and ESL sites.

Up the posting rate on your blog. Post smaller but more frequent; try to recruit some friends to comment there. More activity can generate more traffic and interest, and also help in the search engines.

There's always of course the investment route: advertise, or pay one of those "site booster" companies, or both.

Good luck...it's not an easy road to high traffic. th_k

I'm a bit torn over changing the format because I really like the 3 things in one post a day it's just that I'm often too lazy to do it every day...

I suppose I will have to just bite the bullet and do the whole self promotion thing of going around places...I always forget to email people who I feature as well which is really dumb.

Read up on "SEO" on the net and follow any tips you find there. It can be time intensive to get it going. I did an experiment with it myself and got a blog for/about "international English learners". I did manage to get it onto first page of google search hits before I eventually dropped it.

I just checked it out now, and it's no longer showing up on Google when looking for relevant keywords related to intl. English ed./ ESL type stuff. No surprise... whoever picked up the url turned it into a faux travel blog that appears to in actuality be referral link spam.
