SHORTS in CHINA - xwarrior warning

Some people might think I have an obsession with Tshirts. Not true! I have a general interest in what might loosely be called 'fashion.'
With summer coming in New Zealand a fashionista has given this advice to girls/women/wimmun/:
Forget Daisy Dukes.
Dress shorts are this summer's answer to the mini skirt. Here's how to keep it chic.
To give some idea of what she had in mind there was a photo:
If you have been living in China for some time you can be excused if you think this a photo of an All Black forward.
The expert goes on to give some 'guidelines' but there is nothing graphic to illustrate them. So I thought it would be an idea to use some photos of girls/women in China to emphasise the points she makes.
Nail The Shape:
Whether you're short or tall, most body types look best in mid to high waisted shorts that finish just on the mid thigh. Look for styles with a wide or straight leg (nothing that hugs) as this will make your thighs appear slimmer.
Balance The Proportions:
The easiest way to make shorts work is by flipping the silhouette. If the fit on the leg is slim then opt for a loose or A-line fit on top. If the shorts are baggy or sit low on the hips then team with a slim fit t-shirt or blazer instead.
Feel The Fabric:
Look for styles in silk, linen, tweed, even leather - the dressier the fabric the better. Choose a cut that doesn't cling on the hips, legs or bottom and avoid denim and cotton shorts - they're for the beach.
Choose The Shoes:
Wedges, stack heels and open-toe pumps are your best option when it comes to dress shorts. To create a longer line try nude to tan shades and steer clear of closed toes and ankle straps that visually shorten your legs.
Dress The Look:
Don't be afraid when it comes to styling up your shorts.
Matching them with something unexpected like a blazer or silk blouse is what will make it work. Try bright colours, prints, ruffles - the same principals you apply when choosing a cocktail dress.
If we put all the fashionista's ideas together it might produce an outfit something like this:

Thanks for your efforts xwarrior.
I have been seeing a lot of young Asian lasses coming into the Casino wearing shorts. My reaction has been
I am on friendly terms with a lot of the security guards there and we have discussed this issue, particularly when they used to refuse entry to guys wearing camouflage or fashionably tattered jeans. The ladies were going in wearing what I considered were dog walking clothes.
Yeah, I know it was hard for the guys to get their minds on the job and above their navels, but they told me that the dress rules had changed. These shorts are considered fashionable now and suitable for wearing to the Casino. One good thing comes out of it; the guy's jobs are less boring.

As a short shorts fan back home, I was very happy to learn that the women in China were also fans. I also love how its more likely to go wrong here.
Thanks for your compilation of photos - good for a giggle and a half!
