So, after all these years I finally decided to read the post on how to post photos on here (I hope these work; I use Flikr and most photos aren't set to public). Since I haven't lived in China in a while, I decided to post some photos from my home of New Jersey. FYI: I have moved away from NJ three times and keep moving back here.

This is near the Jersey City waterfront (a short walk from my apartment)

They've been trying to turn part of downtown Jersey City into an arts district. There are some good artists here, but most just suck. The old Powerhouse is supposed to be the centerpiece of the district, but they can't seem to raise funds to renovate it or to figure out what it's going to be.

I took my wife to Cape May at the end of last summer (it was also my first time there).

Also took a day trip to Lambertville, along the Delaware & Raritan Canal

Lambertville is where they brew River Horse beer. I like their Hop Hazard.

Only annoying people from out of state say "Joisey." And the exit depends on which highway you're on.

Raoul, did they ever install that second traffic light in Oklahoma?

OK, protective Jersey rant is over now. I'll add to this thread soon...just took a bike ride around Liberty State Park and got some nice shots.

I decided to upload my photos sooner than I expected. It was a beautiful day for a bike ride...low 80s and low humidity. The park was surprisingly quiet--some days it's difficult to find space to ride along the waterfront.

The old railroad station with the Goldman Sachs building in the background.

The waterfront path through the park is disconnected from the rest of the waterfront, but you can pretty much ride along the Hudson River from Bayonne to Edgewater. Way off in the distance is the Empire State Building.

The best views of lower Manhattan are from New Jersey. The unfinished building in there is the new World Trade Center.

And the Statue of Liberty is in New Jersey, not New York.

Jersey kind of has both extremes. There are some truly lovely places there. And there are more than plenty of not necessarily empty 55 gal drums in large storage areas. The city of Elizabeth, NJ is IMHO a very powerful argument in favor of  nuclear weapons. th_a

The Rolling Mills of New Jersey (Roberts and Barrand)
(Sung to the tune of The Rolling Hills of the Border)

When I die, bury me low
Where I can hear the petroleum flow.
A sweeter sound, I never did know
The rolling mills of New Jersey.

Down in Trenton, there is a bar
The bums, they come from near and from far
They come by truck, they come by car
The lousy bums of New Jersey

Down in Hoboken, there will be
Garbage as far as the eye can see.
There's garbage for you, there's garbage for me.
The garbage dumps of New Jersey.

When at last, I decided to roam,
Far away from my home in Bayonne.
I sat down, and wrote this poem.
I wrote an ode to New Jersey.

It's fun to kid the Jerseyites, but really the place kinda gets a bad rap it doesn't always deserve. A helluva lot of America has come out of Jersey...

The garden state. It's going downhill from my trips going thru it from Carolina up to Canada. I usually stop at Atlantic City for a night and play a little cards. Here's an image from not long ago along the boardwalk. Kind of reminds you any day, any time in any city in China.

I've never seen a wooden seat with arm rests on it. Is that to stop folks sleeping on the seats, or are the people inclined to cuddle up to strangers? th_ah
