Travel web site
« on: July 30, 2011, 11:52:21 AM »
I have a Chinese friend who is travelling through Italy alone in September and would feel much better, (as would I), if she was with a group.  I'm sure there must be a web site for travelers who are strangers to each other to heard up and find safety in numbers.  Anyone have suggestions on what some might be?

Is Bootsnall.com accessible in China?

Thanks, China-Matt.  Web site does not have to be accessible in China. Any site where travelers congregate to discuss trips would be great.  I'll have a look at the one you recommend.

Try the Lonelyplanet forums -- Thorntree. There are always people there talking about itineraries and requesting travel buddies.

I don't know though, meeting up with internet randoms might not necessarily be as safe as just going it on your own!

There's a free online guidebook site called wikitravel.org with some good info, but it is not really a place to meet. As someone said above, bootsnall is good too.
