Damn.  I need a little more time than that to engineer an excuse about why I need to run off the the UK.

Attention bachelors - the next person planning a goodbye to bachelorhood party needs to give everyone here at least 1 month's warning.

Never had plans to marry. Went out of my way to avoid commitment since I started dating roughly 20 years ago. Came to China and within 6 months had the stamp and booklet. I blame the baijiu.  alcoholic

Been well over a year now and so far she has avoided every negative Chinese wife stereotype. She cooks, cleans, and does the thousands of things I can't do with limited Chinese. Her family is awesome. Hope my luck continues  th_u

What does the last one mean?  Obligatory other  th_m th_m th_m th_m th_m th_m th_m th_m th_m

You need one that says  "Came to China, didn't date, wasn't looking"  Or None of the above  th_ah th_ah

I am the obligatory other as I am a gay man and unlike back home in NY where I am treated as an equal and so are my relationships, not so much here...

China has some catching up to do in that department.  Like in the USA, you'll probably find more modern attitudes in the biggest cities.

shakemyspear I have had several gay friends and they have been able to find relationships here. One guy I worked with even kept a picture of his boyfriend on his desk and the Chinese staff were curious but definately not disapproving. There are gay bars here and not just in the big cities. The problem is that they tend to be off the beaten path and not well known.

Babs, Suzhou in particular has a reputation as perhaps the most gay-friendly city in China. I never saw it myself that I knew of, but it was supposedly there...

Oops! This thread is about getting married in China, innit? th_bi

I clicked 'Obligatory Other'. My situation is 'different' -

I met, fell in love and married a Chinese girl while at university in Canada. We're now divorced... and... she's in Canada and I'm in China. WTF happened?  th_m
