Flowers in China - colour of life
« on: June 08, 2011, 01:35:49 PM »
Even though I have been in China for some time I still cannot get over the depth of colour of flowers in China. Sometimes I have to ask whether a flower is real or plastic.

One thing I cannot figure out is the lack of flowers growing wild in the countryside. Land cultivation is pretty intensive but I have not noticed them in the hills or on roadsides.

These photos are from Baoji (Shaanxi). It snows here in winter but when it gets warmer gardens soon come to life.

I do not know the name of most of these flowers so anyone who can give a name is welcome to contribute.

and here I was expecting the more 'colourful' shots of flowers that you are renowned for, yet what do I find - real flowers, but wonderful shots they are. bfbfbfbfbf

The last time I saw a hibiscus it was tucked behind the ear of a dusky South Pacific maiden ... who could have been a ladyboy.

Your photos of Zhanjiang bring back memories - I just hope the locals have forgotten some of the things I remember so I can go back one day.  kkkkkkkkkk

Thanks chinalin. Now I know what a lotus flower looks like. What other colors are there?
