My Meccano set was great when I was a kid ... and now I want a set like this one.

This enlargement is of shocking quality but there is enough detail to give an idea of the hours of fun a young boy can have in assembling its components.

This is Bus 17 heading to my college - there are only 35 stops to go.

While making a left turn the driver is playing a one-note version of the Post Horn Gallop on the horn, as required by law in China.

Where is the button for the horn on Bus 17?

I would presume that there is no button for the horn at all, on bus # 17.  Instead I would expect that the horn starts to toot automatically, when the ignition is switched on, and continues to toot randomly, regardless of traffic conditions!!

Bus#17 started life, like any other bus of its vintage, with the button for its horn mounted on the dash - you can see 4 buttons on the ledge beneath the speedo.

To sound the horn the driver has to lean forward and extend his right hand to make contact.

The company that runs Bus#17 has come up with a brilliant solution -  they have taped the button to the front of the gear shift/lever. The driver can steer, change gear and sound the horn at the same time. And he can do all this without moving his body.

I would expect that the horn starts to toot automatically, when the ignition is switched on, and continues to toot randomly, regardless of traffic conditions!!

They may well be working right now on a plan to do this.   I guess it is possible that drivers of Bus#17 are not pressing the button to sound the horn - they only press it to stop the random tootling.

If they put one on all 3 pedals - and they played different notes - it might make for an entertaining ride.

If he was blowing the horn with his foot, he couldn't step on the gas or brake,in order to move or stop quickly as required by the time warp continuum in China.

I am pretty sure this bike operates as a mobile street stall selling cooked food (hence the gas bottle) ... but what fuel is it running on?

A. petrol
B. electricity
C. gas !!!
