In the morning I got a message from one of my more sassy classes that said "Happy Women's Day. Will we still have class this afternoon?"

When I went to class I said "who sent that message," and the whole class laughed as the sender fessed up. I said "One of the female other foreign teachers got flowers from her students," and my class ooh and aah'd. I said "Where's my flowers?"

They all laughed and one boy yelled out, "We are your flowers!"

I'm just suggesting that because it's still a strongly patriarchal society in full swing, men glean certain benefits on a daily basis. Actually, everyday, including Womens' Day, is probably a better day to be a man here. Let's say a lady gets the 50 Yuan on Women's Day. Do you think a man might get 1,500 yuan more a year, including through bribes and whatnot? That would be more than 50 yuan in a day.

But you're right, we won't be getting daily red envelopes. And it would be nice. To be honest, I'd like it delivered in the mid morning by a different pretty girl every day. I'll have to settle with just having the cards really stacked in my favor in this country.
