I'd like to set up a joint bank account at a Chinese Bank. I was wondering if anyone has one, and if so what was needed to set it up. I've read that each person usually needs their own personal account at the bank. I guess passports, a residential address, phone number, and perhaps  expert certificates might be needed.

My bank account is in my name, but my wife knows the password, controls the card and budgets the money.  I put her name as being authorized to take care of things in the event I am incapacitated.

The Babe and I tried to open a joint account a few years back. For some reason I have forgotten, we were not allowed.

As far as I remember, they don't exist in China. Maybe the rules have changed.

Never heard of anyone (Chinese or otherwise) having one.

This ICBC account may be the one you want - but, then again, after reading this material you may decide that it is easier to hide your money under your mattress:
