Yes, that would be good.  Put a streak together that falls short of playoff qualification and leaves them with a shit, draft pick.  But that's just too much to ask for.

May be, but there's still plenty of fun to come for THIS season.

Dallas is now without their over-rated "star" quarterback AND facing a hastily-inserted new head coach...always a recipe for success. th_u

Later, we will be treated to the spectacle of Dallas hosting a Super Bowl in their shiny new billion-dollar-plus mega-stadium, for other cities that were able to actually field a real football team this year. Personally, I'd be happy with any combination of Green Bay and/or Washington and/or the NY Giants (ie the teams that Dallas hates the most), but I'm certainly open to ideas.
Of course, the coming Super Bowl was slated to be The Dallas Event, so the Cowboys should definitely be represented there. Perhaps the players and coaches could be fitted with wire racks and change clips, and sent into the stands to sell beer and hot dogs? (although dropping the merchandise would be a constant problem...) th_ah

Perhaps all this will finally convince the state of Texas to give up on the football thing and adopt a game better suited to them.
I hear that Field Hockey is just all the rage in France. th_u th_ah th_ax

Yeah, Kitna died some years ago. Apparently he played in Seattle too long and eventually mildewed to death. th_an

But he still plays quarterback every bit as well as he ever did. th_ah

At least he'll be remembered in human rights history, though, for being the first NFL player to break the Zombie Barrier. He's brought hope to zombie children the world over... th_bf

Say what you will about the man, Michael Vick is an icredible QB.  Seems now that he's an Eagle he actually throws the ball... like a bazooka.

And what a comback for the Vikes (yeah, watched a double header)!

Quietly, the Falcons are 6-2, and I don't know how.  "Good on both sides of the ball" someone uselessly told me.

Aaaand, the Dallas Cowboys finally won 'em a ballgame...against the Division-leading NY Giants, no less... th_a th_an

Even the Buffalo Bills finally won...their first of the year! th_ao
Of course, it was against the Detroit Lions, so's it don't mean all that much...

Despite their skills, it's just hard to get behind quarterbacks Michael Vick (animal abuse) of the Philadelphia Eagles, or Ben Roethlisberger (rape) of the Pittsburgh Steelers. th_k

Speaking of the Eagles, tonight we get the rematch of the Eagles versus the Washington Redskins, who are led by former long-term Philly quarterback Donovan McNabb. It will be interesting to see how the Pigs fare against a Vick-led Eagles squad...but I ain't optimistic. th_k

As in "come back" to reality.  You do know they lost, right?  Favre threw three more interceptions and had a rating of 44.  Harvin went out with an injury and they are now three full games behind Chicago and The Pack.

Life is good.

Meanwhile, Wisconsin put the hurt on Indiana 83 - 20.  And the Indian coach said that UW was NOT running up the score?  As much as I'm a Badger fan, I whinced when I saw that result.

Wisconsin's football team and basketball team scored a total of 182 points on one weekend in two different sports. Football (83) and basketball (99 against Prairie View A&M in basketball). Has to be some kind of record - Big Ten/NCAA/Guinness.

It sure was that.
The Eagles' strategy, backed by a now full-strength team, was masterful.
And yeah, like him or not, Michael Vick is indeed phenomenally talented as a quarterback.
I had been assuming that Tom Brady (New England Patriots) was the best quarterback in the pros...and he is still incredible. But I think Vick may already be challenging Brady for that title. It will be interesting to see what happens against stronger teams.

One interesting note...Vick now has the 2nd-highest total quarterback rushing yards in NFL history. But he got there in a LOT fewer years than any of his peers in that class. And he at least rivals Brady for passing strength and accuracy. He's patient and he's smart. The guy does EVERYTHING...or at least he sure did last Monday against the Pigs. th_ao

Vick was awesome, is awesome but lets see if he can stay n the field the rest of the year. He's not really that big and he needs to continue to play smart or he will get crushed. The rule changes are in his favour though and smaller more dynamic players are thriving

Well, could the Viking's season get any worse?  Now the roof has literally fallen down around them.  Favre's streak over.  Playoff hopes completely smashed.  Peterson hurt and ineffective.  All of this on top of a looming sex abuse scandal, a fired head coach and a star player sidelined by migraine headaches.  I think the entire Viking fan base is sidlined by migraines.  But it does go to prove that there is, indeed, a God.  And he wears Green and Gold.

I was actually thinking about this on the way home. Brett has done it all except win a superbowl! He basically followed the motto of " If you wanna live life in your own terms, you gotta be willing to crash and burn" to a T... he crashed and burned this season! does it make his accomplishments any less significant? I personally don't think so but let's see how History looks at it.
The vikings, much like the Cowboys, have to look at the season in terms of sunk cost and see if there anything to salvage next year... this one has gone by the waist-side

Well, as a Packers fan I have to mention that Favre won the '96 season Super Bowl.  And, no, this season or any other doesn't erase his accomplishments.  It's just that he turned into such a dick.  And I don't base that on this season alone (or his text messages to NY hotties).

How many times is one allowed to play Hamlet before he draws nothing but groans?  Why call your former employer a liar when it's probably not even accurate let alone provable?  Why insist on ONLY being traded to a Division rival?  All of this made him look as small and petty as his QB ranking of this year.

And his place in the pantheon of QB's is not so assured either.  He has a well-earned reputation for choking in the clutch.  The '97 Super Bowl ended with his interception during the "winning" drive.  The NFC Championship for the Packers against the Giants ended the same way.  His playoff game last year with the Vikings ended the exact same way.  The infamous "4th and 26" playoff game between the Pack against the Eagles ended with an interception on the last drive.  Even his last pass as a Jet was an interception.

Yeah, I respect his grit, independence and competitiveness but he has more than his fair share of chinks in his armour.
