My deepest sympathies.  A proven, and broken, record of futility despite so much success.

Each year, the final play of the season for 11 out of 12 teams will be a failure.  Or put another way, 29 out of 30 teams can be said to be losers.  There were many mutterings of "choker" behind John Elway's back throughout his career, until he retired after his 2nd Super Bowl ring.

There are a number of QBs who hung around too long, and finished miserably.  Dan Marino comes to mind.  Favre's career has been pretty amazing, all the stupid "head"lines of the past 2 seasons notwithstanding.  For those who find him annoying, just avoid mall openings for the next few years; his football career is over.

I'm ready for another playoff run of hope and assured disappointment. J-E-T-S!

I'm showing my age, But Namath comes to mind for me.  I don't blame Favre for staying a year too long.  Hell, I would play every year I could if I had the chance.  His dickishness only became national headlines over the past two to three years.  It was a local story much longer.  He threatened to retire or retired over the past seven seasons.  Then he retired, waited until after the draft, and tried to un-retire.  When the Packers declined the honor of another season with him, he publicly called them liars and demanded to be traded ONLY to a division rival to exact revenge.

History will forgive him I'm sure.  Personally, I have never had more respect for a player, (with the exception of Gale Sayers), than I had for Favre.  But that's all gone, not just for myself, but for most Packers fans and they are a loyal group.

WOW!  What a performance by Aaron Rodgers.  On to the the NFC Championship game.  What a deal if it's against the Bears.  Packers-Bears; the oldest rivaly in pro football and a rich one.

Falcons got clobbered.  Green Bay was 31 for 36 in the air!  That's nearly Joe Namath numbers.

Namath's numbers were usually 36 - 24 - 36

I'm still in shock that my Jets beat the Patriots...in New England. Tom Brady looked like he wanted to cry. Next week I expect the amusing chants to continue...F-E-E-T! Feet! Feet! Feet! (it's really funny if you've been following the ridiculous stories about Rex Ryan's personal life)

I like Rex Ryan.

Takes the media pressure off of Sanchez by blustering.

Gets into a sex scandal with his own wife! That's just awesome.

Green Bay at Chicago

New York Jets at Pittsburgh

I like, I like.

Green Bay is just better than Chicago and I don't think the Jets will be able to run against the Steelers.

Are you trying to seduce me???  Love the prediction, but I'm not so optimistic.  The Packers have become a dome team in a way.  Without a ground game on Soldier Field it's bound to be close.  17-14 Pack!  However, if they make it to the Super Bowl, they will dominate in the warm weather.

No team in the NFL has had more significant injuries than GB.  You have to give the MVP to the coaching staff, (especially Dom Capers), and Personnel,Ted Thompson.

Wow, what a season and what a playoff series! th_bh

The Vikes were a major bummer. Perhaps Stephen Colbert said it best...he showed video of the Vikings' stadium roof collapsing under the snow, and added that even with all the destruction, the stadium still had a better chance of hosting the Super Bowl than did the Vikings themselves. th_an

Green Bay over Chicago...tough game for me. I kinda wanted to see Da Bears go all the way, but had pretty much accepted the end as inevitable when it came...the Packers by that point were a relentless machine, and Chicaga was too hit-and-miss. They just never learned to adequately protect Cutler.

I'm stunned that the Patriots are not playing today. If I'd had any money, I'd have bet all of it on the Pats being in the Super Bowl...so I guess it's a good thing I never have any money.

I'm glad to hear good comments about Favre. Yeah, he made a lot of noise in his last years. Yeah, he stayed in a year too long...although the Vikings' implosion is much, much deeper than just Favre. But in the long run, he'll be remembered as one of the greatest who ever played the game...which he indeed is. His list of records and statistics is completely unparalleled in pro football. Hell, in my book if you can play this game for 19 years (especially without ever missing a game), and not have to be carried into the stadium in a basket, you are one major tough sumbitch.

Anyway, I'm soooo ready for the Big One today. My dear friend Goldie is coming over despite the ice, pizza is pre-ordered, and all that's left now is a few hours of furious housecleaning. th_ao

I like both these teams. And don't underestimate the Steelers: Roethlisberger, personal loathing aside, is no slouch. Troy Polamalu is one of the very best defensive players in the game...and they got lots of other greats, too. I think and I hope that this isn't going to be another boring, anti-climactic Super Bowl. I think this one is going to be a head-knocker. th_ag

But I'm down with The Pack for this game. I think they'll win and hope they do.
MVP: Brett Favre. th_ah

You HAVE seen today's weather conditions in Dallas, right? th_u
Ice storms. Freezing cold and windy. Six people were injured by ice sheets sliding off the dome of Cowboys Stadium, and I hope they all sue Jerry Jones into the 22nd Century. And I hope the bad luck rubs off on the Cowboys for even longer. th_d

But it'll be warm inside, and Green Bay will still win. th_ag

And Dr. Con, you know that you are truly my brother and I love you.
But I'm sooo happy we don't have to watch them damn Dirty Birds today. th_u
