like last time

What are you, nucking futs?  th_m The last final had the world famous French header, now known as a "Zidane Headbutt"

I know it ended with penelty kicks, but still . . . (as long as neither France nor England are in it, it will be an entertaining game)

OK, I'm just another culturally-insensitive, barbaric Canadian here, but it seems to me that when football players start acting more like hockey players than synchronised swimmers, then something has briefly gone right with the world.

I have no more idea than anyone else who will win the final. I'm cheering for Holland, but that's who I always cheer for. They're always the kid who almost had it but never won anything. I'm going to have to reconsider my support for them if they actually bring it home this time. Nahh, I've seen too many good Dutch teams fail for trying, I've supported them too mnay times through too many darkest hours to give up on them just because they disappoint me and win it all. I just think its unfair of them to wait until now. Just imagine the celebratory drinking I could have done back in '74 or '78.
If Spain wins, I don't think I'll feel much of anything. The usual disappointment for Holland of course, but I can't find it in me to either hate or admire them for winning. OK they have quality enough to be favourites before the tournament began, they deserve respect, they've certainly played their way into the final, and they would also be a new world champion instead of one of the usual suspects. I can't even get pissed at them for all the diving and play-acting because they havn't done a lot of that this time around. Hmmm, could there be a message in that? Perhaps a team that has quality doesn't have to cheat its way to the final if it has the stuff to play its way there?  What a dangerous thought. FIFA may have to implement a new rule. I have to be less grudging with my respect.

One of my very best friends here is from Holland and we'll watch the final together so I'm going to cheer for Spain.

I hope a great big fat Spaniard sits next to you too, Stil.

Though I'm not sure if that would shut you up or only talk twice as much  th_ah

I'll watch the consolation match tonight at the Blue Marlin, amongst a heap of Germans.  I think they'll handle Uruguay, two-one.

Among other reasons, yes. There's definitely something to be said for 175+ cm women, especially ones in short skirts, even when many of them are with 185+ cm men. (5'10" and 6'2" for those still using obsolete measurements)
