germans and dutch really don't like each other as well so that should be a cracker when they meet (england and germany is an old rivalry, but with germans and dutch there is still real animosity a la japan v rthe rest of asia)
i was surprised by germany, everyone wrote them off....

Hoo boy, Germany looked dazzling against Argentina. I figure the upcoming Ger vs. Esp match will be the best of the whole tourney.

Geez, I'd love to see Uruguay, the only remaining non-Continental-European team, take it all this time. Not placing any big bets, mind you...just a-wishin'... I'd settle for the Dutch winning. I like Dutch. But yeah, it'll probably be the bleedin' Germans winning the Cup, and they'll be even more insufferable than usual for at least the next year.

The German's have a saying about football.
Something like,
Football is 22 men running all over a pitch .... and then the German's win.
I've got no horse in this race and generally I would root against Germany and France by rote and Italy because of their brand of football. (I did waver somewhat with Zidane. Genius)
The problem now is who to pull for.
The Oranje have been kinda ... blandish. Almost like watching Germany in years past.
Spain should have won a cup by now and this is the farthest they've been. Xavi is good but David Villa has a soul patch. I can't cheer for that.
Uraguay? It's terrible that the biggest upset would be a country that has won the cup twice already. Uraguay ... 3 times world champions. Thanks I'll pass.
Germany has been awesome. Just a fantastic side to watch. Beautiful football. Clean, not much diving.
Oh crap this is awful. Germans!
They'll be without Mueller against Spain, that should blunt their attack. I'm looking forward to this match. It will probably be Klose.

Hope the Dutch do it, they're a likable nation. I want to see Uruguay get trounced as recompense for Ghana.

totally agree with stil. germany are the best team and deserve to win it, but i can't want them to win because they are germans
the spain team are even more arrogant than the england team and i can't forgive uruguay for that cheating at the end of the 14 final so i guess it's the dutch who i will root for

Even though I'd bet Germany to win the World Cup (at 10:1!), I'm glad the final will be between two countries that have never won the championship before.
The best thing about Uruguay is irritating my friends by "abbreviating" it URURURURURURURU. I was pulling for them until they did the Henry to poor Ghana.

Spain were the favourite before the tourney started. And they did take out the hottest team in Germany (you know, it strikes me that what the Krauts did so well was counterstrike once the other team fell behind and had to press hard- Spain simply never fell behind).
On the other hand, Holland wears orange. And that second goal against Brazil was amazing.
Dunno, leaning Spain. Or the Dutch. I'll flip a coin come game time.
I'll cheer for Germany against Uruguay. THey've been really fun to watch.
