I know someone who has worked there.  I will ask her tomorrow because both her and her husband now  works at my Uni.

It is an outsourcing company.

As my dear departed (God rest his soul)brother used to say, 'Wouldn't even go near that with your dick!'

I was an employee of that ahem institute of learning  th_ah for 18 months. Granteed I was in another province, branch of the college. But I will safely say that employment practices and the quality of students would likely be the same.

And the boss is the gu who wrote to tell me my dog had run away on the morning of my brother's death, he knew I'd be back in China and just wanted to make sure I wouldn't be back for the dog.

This is the employer who outright shafted me when I needed to return home to be with my aformentioned dying brother who as they well knew was my only living family on this whole faarkin planet! I even gave a month's notice to complete end of term exams for them, albeit three weeks early. This all happened about a month after receiving the award for being that year's 'Teacher of the Year',  th_bi Wankers, arseholes, heartless ruthless pricks. But I won't go on.

p.m. me if you want to know what I REALLY think  th_ao  th_a

I may even extend myself to adding something rational. My heart is racing just seeing their name in type. And you have spoiled my dinner.

I remember living in DL when neusoft was bad news on a stick. Haven't heard anything aobut it recently, but that may just be because they can't get anyone bright enough to use a computer. Maybe they like it that way. Or it may be because they've got their act together. I'll ask around.

Sorry, that was a bit over the top. Broccoli and cheese sauce always does that to me. It's half an hour later and I'll try to be a bit more factual and rational this time.

This a private college with three branches in three provinces. It belongs to the Neusoft company, a software developer of some size supposedly. The company opened the first campus as a training facility for their potential future employees and saw the money in it. It is a business first and foremost.

The branch I was at basically had only a couple of departments, computers and business. Then there is also a little money spinner called the NCC department which is where all the students expecting to study abroad enrol to do most of their lessons in English in preparation for their IELTS test, and pay a packet for it.

NCC that's the department I worked in, only 2 classes of students, but I taught each class 12 hours a week four different subjects, not fun, preparation all day every day. I used to have to choose on a sunday whether I had time to buy groceries, or do my laundry or wash my floors, never all of the above. It was truly grim. Although admittedly the teachers who were working in the English department didn't have as bad a time.

The students are, or at least were in the Guangdong Branch, filthy rich and very lazy and spoilt and behaved like a classroom of 14 year olds, not college age young adults, products of lives of privilege (wish I could recall how to spell that) I expect.

If contract conditions are the same through out the branches the aspects outside salaries are going downhill each year. Because it is a nationwide company every decision comes 'from above' so you never know who to appeal to or negotiate with.

Maybe if you had a guarantee of not working in the NCC department, and were pretty sure of not needing to face any personal trauma that could force you into breaching your contract, and low expectations of the students and are comfortable with that, and did the mathematics really carefully on what they pay for and don't pay for, and realise it's 'swings and slides' or whatever the expression is, it could be ok.

I am back in the public system now, being paid half the salary but being paid 12 months a year, free utilities, air fare up front - not reimbursed only if you go home - with students that are proud to have left the farm to go on to further study. I am happy now and so glad I did not stay on in that pestilant hole,I would not recommend Neusoft to anybody there was ever a chance of my liking.

Just my two bob's worth. Oh yeah, by the way it was exactly this time last year that I had to ask for an early end of semester with the month of notice I gave, happy anniverary to me hey?

The girl at my school said the Dalian school Admin treated her fairly.  She said the pay is quite low. I believe she worked there several years.

She said the students aren't college student, more like technical training level.  They are rich kids that don't want to work.  They have very poor English levels.

Thanks for that feedback DS.

That makes a difference.  Dalian is a nice city from what I saw.

Dalian Neusoft University is advertising again on "the other site:"

http://www.eslcafe.com/jobs/china/index.cgi?read=23567

4,700RMB/Month for 16 - 20 teaching hours per week.

After I found the ad I searched on here and lo and behold Neusoft seems to be, IHO, total f'kers:

Does anyone in the Dalian area (or who has friends who've worked for Neusoft) have any thoughts on these guys?

My impression of these guys is that they are one big piece of  th_bq!
Thanks.

Sam

They were not well-regarded when I was in Dalian, but that's been many years now.
If nothing else, that salary for private work is a joke...a complete insult. That alone should ward off the wary. th_o
