KFCed on silence.

This is important.  You would ALWAYS say you are taller than George.  Everyone is taller than a dancing chicken.

the -er -est ending is normally used for exactly those situations, but they don't work if you are in this situation. If you had 3 brothers you could say "Raoul is one of my younger brothers, George is also my younger brother, but Stil is my youngest brother".

"I have 2 younger brothers and George is the elder of them."

But here you can't go young, younger youngest for this construction.

The first construction acts as if you were also counted as part of the sibling group.

I'm confused....

why does it take Three to say oldest/youngest?

I thought two was enough to be able to have a oldest of the two?

You've got two younger brothers, the youngest one is younger than the other.

Is that not correct English?

I've got two brothers younger than I am.  The older of the two is ABC and the younger one is XYZ.  They are both pains in the butt.

Comparative (-er) involves only two being compared.
Superlative (-est) involves more than two in the comparison.
