Back on earth, here's some inspiring news:

http://blogs.wsj.com/washwire/2008/10/18/obama-rally-draws-100000-in-missouri/

100,000 in Missouri expressing interest in my nation's first viable black presidential candidate*

It has only taken 200 years, but humans aren't the fastest evolving animals in the wild kingdom.

*I'd argue that the late Shirley Chisholm was a viable candidate based on her credentials and ideas, but back in the sixties and seventies the Demoncrats and tthe majority of Americans weren't humane enough to look beyond a black candidate for president, nevermind a female candidate. bibibibibi

Muslim McCain supporters confront the typical, Palin-worshiping, McCain supporting, "Obama is a secret Muslim, socialist, homosexual, yadda yadda yadda" racist c@#ts who make up the base for the campaign.

Later in the day, the McCain camp via the Repugnicant party won't allow the young, Islamic delegate who confronted the, "Obama is a secret Muslim, socialist, homosexual, yadda yadda yadda" morons, to speak to the media.

Can I please be a candidate and have the party buy my clothes too??
Republicans spend $224,000 on clothing for Sarah Palin

October 22, 2008

THE Republican National Committee has spent more than $US150,000 ($224,000) on clothes for vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin.

The Republicans' main campaign and fundraising organ spent a small fortune at high-end stores, such as Saks Fifth Avenue in St. Louis and New York ($US49,425 dollars) and Neiman Marcus in Minneapolis ($US75,062), the Politico website said.

The RNC also spent $US4716 on hair and makeup through September, Politico said.

Those kinds of expenditures did not appear in the RNC's financial disclosure records before the Alaska governor was named to John McCain's ticket in August, it added.

Politico said it reviewed the RNC's September monthly financial disclosure report and found a new category, “campaign accessories”, included in the report of “itemized coordinated expenditures”.

The McCain-Palin campaign issued a statement shortly after the report appeared online.

“With all of the important issues facing the country right now, it's remarkable that we're spending time talking about pantsuits and blouses,” said spokeswoman Tracey Schmitt. “It was always the intent that the clothing go to a charitable purpose after the campaign.”

Asked for comment by Politico, another spokeswoman Maria Comella “declined to answer specific questions about the expenditures, including whether it was necessary to spend that much,” the report said.

“The campaign does not comment on strategic decisions regarding how financial resources available to the campaign are spent,” Ms Comella was quoted as saying.

Among the department store sprees were expense reports for two high-end baby stores, “suggesting $295 was spent to accommodate the littlest Palin to join the campaign trail”, Politico said.

Palin gave birth to a son, her fifth child, earlier this year.

Another $4902 were “spent at Atelier, a high-class shopping destination for men,” the report noted.

A bit off the topic, but interesting:

The Endorsement From Hell

By NICHOLAS D. KRISTOF
Published: October 25, 2008

John McCain isn’t boasting about a new endorsement, one of the very, very few he has from overseas.

“Al Qaeda will have to support McCain in the coming election,” read a commentary on a password-protected Islamist Web site that is closely linked to Al Qaeda and often disseminates the group’s propaganda.

By David R. Kamerschen, Ph.D., Professor of Economics
University of Georgia
- or someone years back as this has been around awhile.

Suppose that every day, ten men go out for beer and the bill for all ten comes to $100. If they paid their bill theway we pay our taxes, it would go something like this:

· The first four men (the poorest) would pay nothing.
· The fifth would pay $1.
· The sixth would pay $3
· The seventh would pay $7.
· The eighth would pay $12.
· The ninth would pay $18.
· The tenth man (the richest) would pay $59.

So, that's what they decided to do. The ten men drank in the bar every day and seemed quite happy with the arrangement, until one day, the owner threw them a curve. “Since you are all such good customers,” he said, “I'm going to reduce the cost of your daily beer by $20.”. And so drinks for the ten now cost just $80.00.

The group still wanted to pay their bill the way we pay our taxes so the first four men were unaffected. They would still drink for free. But what about the other six men – the paying customers? How could they divide the $20 windfall so that everyone would get his 'fair share?' They realized that $20 divided by six is $3.33. But if they subtracted that from everybody's share, then the fifth man and the sixth man would each end up being paid to drink his beer. So, the bar owner suggested that it would be fair to reduce each man's bill by roughly the same amount, and he proceeded to work out the amounts each should pay.

And so:
· The fifth man, like the first four, now paid nothing (100% savings).
· The sixth now paid $2 instead of $3 (33%savings).
· The seventh now paid $5 instead of $7 (28%savings).
· The eighth now paid $9 instead of $12 (25% savings).
· The ninth now paid $14 instead of $18 (22% savings).
· The tenth now paid $49 instead of $59 (16% savings).

Each of the six was better off than before. And the first four continued to drink for free. But once outside the restaurant, the men began to compare their savings.

“I only got a dollar out of the $20.”, declared the sixth man. He pointed to the tenth man,' but he got $10!'

“Yeah, that's right”, exclaimed the fifth man.
“I only saved a dollar, too. It's unfair that he got
ten times more than I!”

“That's true!!” shouted the seventh man. “Why should he get $10 back when I got only two? The wealthy get all the breaks!”

“Wait a minute,” yelled the first four men in unison. “We didn't get anything at all. The system exploits the poor!”

Then the nine men surrounded the tenth and beat him up.

The next night the tenth man didn't show up for drinks, so the nine sat down and had beers without him. But when it came time to pay the bill, they discovered something important. They didn't have enough money between all of them for even half of the bill!

And that, boys and girls, journalists and college professors, is how our tax system works. The people who pay the highest taxes get the most benefit from a tax reduction. Tax them too much, attack them for being wealthy, and they just may not show up anymore. In fact, they might start drinking overseas where the atmosphere is somewhat friendlier…

I believe Bush guys should hold most of the blame if you feel the need to point fingers & feel sorry for anyone, the repugs never had a chance.

If anything, Mc n er should be admired for the number of votes they got concidering the current/recent political climate.

Declaring people who's views you disagree with to be less than human is the beginning of a steep slippery slope that always ends in tears, no matter which side wins out in the end.

You might also want to recheck some of the more popular politicians from US history who are considered to be great heros by the Democratic party.  Think FDR, JFK, and LBJ as a few examples.  What were their real views on race, gender, women's rights (in the workplace as well as in the doctor's office), sexual orientation, projection of military force, etc.

Palin would seem pretty mild in comparison.

I definitely think she wasn't the best choice McCain could have made (I SOOO wish he'd picked Condi - experienced, brilliant, and HOT!), but totally demonizing her for being a little behind the curve on some social issues and being right-leaning on military issues tends to detract from the strength of your arguments.
I'm pro-cloning and we vote!               Why isn't this card colored green?

And right now she is the person taking most of the blame for an entire party/team loss.  No way was she the sole reason McCain lost.

Maybe a more realistic scenario is that McCain realised that he couldn't win, chose her to be his running mate and the fall guy role as the finale, keeping himself above blame and providing a chance at other options.  There weren't too many good reasons why he would choose her in the first place.

In Oz we have a saying - you don't kick a dog when it's down, and this is what seems to me to be happening.  So yeah - whatever her policies, or dodgy view of the world, she's down, she doesn't need kicking.

No, DaDan. That would be what Palin and her constituency view the rest of the planet as.

Don't put words in my mouth.

When you defend people who want to remove basic human rights from others you fall on deaf ears. End of the argument. To imply that I am a racist because I kick a right wing, bigoted theocrat when they're down is not only totally off the mark, but it's offensive. It's trolling to the highest order.

When hate mongers preach hate, they deserve the hostility that is thrown back at them in light of their inhumanity.

I'll leave the sympathy for nazi types to keep winding up the fiddle for poor old Palin.

When a politician wants to infringe on civil liberties and take away their human rights, I for one, have no problem viewing them for what they are, and calling them out for what they are: beasts and inhuman scum.

Of course, I'd assume any moderately educated person would be able to figure that out.

Lotus, after reading your opinion of Americans in a  previous thread, and then your take on how Palin is supposedly getting the brunt of the "blame" for McCain's loss, maybe you need to sit down with actual Americans and read some American news for perspective to balance things out.  In America, many news outlets of the mainstream variety are already exposing positive platitudes about diabolical Ms. Palin and her rosy political future. Very few have called her washed up or pinned the blame solely on her. Outside of the op-ed pages where authors have one particular political slant, there's little by way of a Palin assassination team in the American media.

I find it interesting how people rush to defend the cunt when they sure had no problem with her basically calling out Obama for being a terrorist, and encouraging her support base to call for the outright murder and destruction of Obama. I never once heard her apologize nor try to calm the racist, xenophobic fans of her hate speech. McCain did.

Pardon me for viewing bigots, homophobes, bigots, xenophobes and theocrats for what they are: inhuman. I'll leave it to others to defend them and feel sympathy for them. I've better things to do, like encourage actual human beings to live their lives and enjoy their human rights, as well as three word sentences to mull over  ahahahahah
