Perro come perro - Superlitio

And whatever else Colombian group names pops up for me on Limewire.  Superlitio are cool, kinda a bit more mellow than I expected given Perro Come Perro, the movie (aka "Dog Eat Dog"), but anyhoo, anyone got any suggestions?

Zurdok, a Mexican rock band, also popped out in the searches, and they're great, but I'm looking for modern Colombian.

May give some salsa a try too.  Ariba!

Los inquietos del norte... Spanish polka...  Ai!  Avoid accordions in the future.

What other Colombian groups do you know? I'm intrigued. By the way, I'm Colombian. You seem to know much more than me.

Technically, I know nothing of Colombian music.  But last night I watched Perro Come Perro and got a little excited.  bfbfbfbfbf  It's a gangster film set in Cali.

I tried Limewiring everything I saw in the music credits, but only got hits for Superlitio. Que Vo'hacer and Lo Fi aren't bad ('cept Lo Fi's sung in English and ain't ethnic much.)

What can I tell ya, I'm getting tired of Western music and modern Colombian has a cool sound.  afafafafaf  Assuming no accordions of course.

Got any tips?  Anything's open for a listen.

Not ethnic enough? Ugh. I'll let that one pass. asasasasas

I can recommend:

-1280 Almas
-Kraken (sounds a little like hair metal. One of the classics)
-Leon Bruno
-Aterciopelados (another classic. if you want to hear "ethnic", none better than this bfbfbfbfbf)

Nothing else comes to mind. I have been a bit disconnected of the rock scene back home since I came here.

What do you think of the English singing bands, musically speaking? Only that they're not ethnic enough?

Yeah, I paused before typing that, but, like, Lo Fi by Superlitio, it's really not a bad tune, but it could have been written and sung by anyone anywhere.  Hell, it could easily be Australian pop straight out of Melbourne--lyrics, tune, beat, sound, the lot.  Whereas Perro come perro and Que Vo'hacer, while accessible, seem nonetheless like that have something new to say, if you see what I mean.  (So I'll be downloading some other stuff too to see if they hold up.)

Or consider, for another example, Zurdok, they're Mexican, sing in Spanish, and sound like Seattle.  They're good, but it's weird listening to something so familiar except for the words.

Thus:

-1280 Almas   awawawawaw  eh, s'okay.
-Kraken  mmmmmmmmmm  What the...?  They should be dutch.
-Leon Bruno   :wtf: Opinion pending, still 'Wiring...

-Aterciopelados   bfbfbfbfbf bfbfbfbfbf bfbfbfbfbf - not bad.

Really enjoyed their Te juro que no and El Estuche, and a few others I'll listen to some more.

And in other news, found one tune by La Mojarra Eléctrica, name of Calle 19.  Funkay.

God bless 'em if they want to sound like everyone else.

Dunno.  Dunno what makes my ears key to one distinctive sound and not another.  Maybe I'm only the judge of what I'll listen to.

Just discovered Lady Gaga.  Me like!

The latest unit in the textbook for my preteens was on albums, bringing up music genres and artists/bands they've never heard of.  bibibibibi  So I burned a CD of the ones in the book, plus some songs with good lyrics, and a couple that I just plain old like.

... Oops, don't have the songlist with me.  Um, Johnny Cash, Joss Stone, Pink Floyd's The Wall, Bob Marley, Daft Punk, Jet, The Clash, Beyonce, Bananarama, 18 in all.  The most popular?
