I should maybe point out I don't have musical tastes. There are probably recognizable themes in what I listen to, but I don't pay much attention to them. What I have in lieu of all that are musical enthusiasms. Interests of the moment. It seems obvious to me therefore to spend a moment each day highlighting what I am literally right then listening to.

Also, that my enthusiasms are usually by their nature transient, I'm hard pressed to see myself as the owner of this thread even if all the snobby music snobs with their snobby snob sounds no one else posts. I just assume no one else wants to share.

You what could be good though? A "What will I always be listening to?" thread. Music that stays with you for whatever (good) reason, and which you might currently happen to be reviewing again. I'd put a few Bowie songs into such a thread. Some T-Rex maybe. That one Jimi Hendrix song. There's not a lot of tunes I always come back to though, so...¯\_(ツ)_/¯

As if to prove a point...


I heard this first last night, as the credits tune for Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets. It's not very special as a tune, but as a song it surprises me with that one thought that is this really the first time to hear "I gotta be a man, I gotta be the man" turned into something different because it's sung by a woman, seemingly seriously, and especially in context of the other lyrcis? What makes it interesting, compelling even, is how it isn't immediately a rejection. The song appears not to be rejecting "man" as a role and even seems liberating because of it??!?
