Panjabi MC - The Album.Technically Bhangra and not Bollywood, but either way it rocks. I love Indian drumming, and this album is a feast...with a little hip-hop thrown in sometimes for good measure.

I don't speak to native English speakers in my daily life very often. My girlfriend doesn't speak English nor do most of my friends where I live. While I speak English everyday as an English teacher of course, I often worry that I will pick up bad habits and start using Chinglish here and there. One of the things I do to combat this is I listen to audiobooks and especially podcasts. I commute for various part time gigs and I use that time to listen to sports talk, tech news and whatever else I find interesting. One podcast that has recently come to my attention is The China History Podcast by Laszlo Montgomery. He covers some important episodes in Chinese history and speaks in a calm way while describing some really turbulent times. The weekly podcasts are usually about 30 minutes long and are a good way to start learning about Chinese history. Sinica podcast is another excellent English language podcast about China but it looks at contemporary China. The latest episode Morally Adrift? from June 12, 2012 is a must listen, especially for expats living in China. I download them right to my phone but you can use iTunes or get them from the sites themselves.

I too listen to "The China History Broadcast"...it's very, very good... I primarily use my iPod for exercise and, for some reason, Southern Rock is good for that. I have a nice selection of Canned Heat, The Kentucky Headhunters, Confederate Railroad, ZZ Top and, naturally, Lynyrd Skynyrd. Spiced up with some Robert Palmer, Ramones, "My Sharona" and other stuff....very good for passing an hour on a treadmill

Greetings Stil - thankee for the link to Chinese History Podcasts - terrific!
That's what I will be listening to as soon as ... as for this afternoon during intermittent bouts of tidying the rather untidy lodgings - the Tragically Hip and lots of it. A beer, a broom and the Hip make cleaning fun.
Clean ALLLLLLLLLL the things!!!!!!!!!!!!!

An opera singer moved in across from my building. She practices every night from 6 to 9. Italian operas. Fills the whole apartment complex.
It's wonderful.
