What is it about Leonard Cohen that evades me...and seemingly ONLY me? I just can't get into his stuff... the voice, the lyrics, the sheer genius of it all... I remember making my students write a thesis paper on one of his songs called "everybody knows" |

Maybe I just need more exposure. What I've heard basically put me to sleep. Eskimo opera I can handle. Balinese gamelon, Tuvan throat-singing, Latvian folk, Raï, Zydeco, Deathmetal...all no problem. But Leonard just leaves me drowsy. |

Gallhammer, Crucifixin. That is just so cool. ETA: changed the song title. (Gallhammer does have another tune which is called "Crucifixion". It is slower and an ickle bit less aggressive than the one in the link, which is called Cruci fixin. Just so you know.) |

I was standing in a street market in Shenyang yesterday and the man selling canned dance music and the lady selling bananas for 1 yuan per jin had managed to sync their music/ repetitive announcement via weird megaphone thingy so it sounded like something I could dance to...
