Amon Tobin - Surge (16Bit Remix)

And another thing--old Chinese movie tune, I think--but I have no name for it.

Sorry, my friend, but not really a "raise". Too techno, not enough metal. kkkkkkkkkk

I'll take that and raise you this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QF_bLVsJLlY&feature=player_embedded

K-Pop seems to be the new port of call for some of the hipster blogger types. Have to admit the sheer scale and rambunctiousness of the production is fascinating. It's really capitalism as music with the 'artists' the industry's pawns.

Diplo's produced for a couple of Kpop guys and it's actually really good:

An old house music sample, two korean lads and a ridiculously over the top video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FL0sfti1DcA

You ought to know the name Gilberto Gil. He's a genuine Godfather of modern Brazilian folk, and in turn has influenced artists around the world. Gil was (and still is, I guess) part of a musical movement that even helped shape modern relatively-democratic government in Brazil; it's all in Portuguese and just sounds wonderful. I'm currently listening to his 1970s classic album "Expresso 2222"...and if anything it's fresher and more relevant than ever.

Good wired-at-4:40am-before-court music. bfbfbfbfbf

OK...back home and chillin' before bed.
Went to my favorite radio station server site, Radio Tuna (radiotuna.com), browsing the Folk category, which contains much of their World music.

On a lark tried one called Radio Oira out of Latvia, rockin' that Latvian Folk music.
Much to my surprise, a fair amount of the music is...beautiful.
Totally unique.
Exotic and interesting.
Hypnotic.
Some of it is a modern fusion, some of it is obviously WAY old school.
So if you're bored some night, try tuning this one in.
It's on Radio Tuna under "Folk", or try www.radiooira.lv

Updates...

Latvian folk tends to wear thin after a little while.

If confronted with a choice between Swiss pop, Turkish rock, or Hungarian ambient, choose a dignified suicide or at least another place to hang out.

Ah, now it's Serbian folk ballads.
Radio Tuna's Folk section is one interesting browse. bfbfbfbfbf

Apparently continental Europeans are totally starved for entertainment, and will listen to anything, no matter how horrible. aoaoaoaoao aaaaaaaaaa

Apparently every single citizen of The Netherlands has their own internet radio station.

At least KA Radio Scotland is playing obscure Pink Floyd. bvbvbvbvbv agagagagag bvbvbvbvbv
