Demonoid is gone and Pirate Bay seems to be acting weird of late.  The only other place I know to find torrents is Mininova.  Are there any other good torrent download sites other than Limewire?
Is there a possibility that the same tactics applied to squeeze Demonoid out will be used elsewhere?

Oink got nuked recently, which I was most distressed by Sad

I can get films locally (even if downloading is more convenient than sifting through heaps of DVDs) but for music, it's impossible  th_as th_as th_as th_as th_as th_as th_as th_as

it's already on BrandeX's list, but i just thought i'd highlight
http://www.torrentz.com/
as my favorite for nearly all my needs. it searches through a bunch of other torrent websites when you do a search, so you don't have to go to each individually.
also, with each result it gives you a list of trackers you can add in yourself after. (if anyone is new to torrents i can post more details about how to do this, it can make your downloads a shitload faster, eg: the other day i downloaded Adobe CS3, 3.3GB in 5 hours)

for more obsure music that i can't get with torrents, i use emule. http://www.emule-project.net/home/perl/general.cgi?l=1&rm=download
it's slow as hell for me but i can almost always get what i'm looking for.

hope this helps all you cheap arses...

I hear you... I had been looking for the oink account so long.. then I got it and I blew it. but redemption came in immediately in the form of another invite... then it got shut.
I used to get most of my stuff rom demonoid and now, I'm not sure where I can find comics...

About emule - for some reason, that one has never worked for me.  I should try it again on my present computer.

Soulseek is good for obscure music, sometimes there is stuff on there that isn't even on Oink, but it's not nearly as convenient for downloading, as you are DLing from just one other person, which means if they go offline, you don't know when they are going to come back.  With oink, because it required everyone to have a good ratio, that almost never happened as everyone was seeding as much as poss to get a good ratio.

Also I find with soulseek if I just leave it running to share my stuff, it ends up majorly slowing down my computer, whereas seeding torrents doesn't really.  Dunno why.

If you are after music have a look at:

http://stmusic.org

I think it still has free signups, worth a look.

Its run by the same people who run http://supertorrents.org.

I signed up on ST Music and have a few torrents uploaded.  It's not bad, but the selection is nothing like oink's.  I guess it will take a while to get going.

Oink are also getting one called waffles going but they are meant to be reinviting everyone who had an oink account, so far they have not responded to my email Sad

Nolefan, if you are looking for comics via BT, go to http://zcultfm.com/, otherwise you can use the DC++ client and get them directly from the scanners as soon as they are u/l on the net.
