Title: From China Daily: Differences between Chinese women and American women
Post by: Day Dreamer on April 13, 2013, 01:14:30 AM
Gotta love it! Where do they get this stuff? Oh yea I know, from watching Friends, Sex in the City, and Gossip Girls

http://bbs.chinadaily.com.cn/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=850269

1. American women share men’s life; Chinese women change and own men’s life.

2. For American women first-time sex is to abandon awkwardness; For Chinese women first sex is to devote their most valuable.

3. In the U.S., women always want to be husband`s friend; In China, women sometimes argue irrationally with men and sometimes act as a small woman.

4. In the U.S., having sex with men will enhance women`s feelings and happiness; In China, having sex is considered as a lifetime devotion by women.

5. American women always think their husband is most handsome man; In eyes of Chinese women, Korean movie stars and British football players are the most handsome men.

6. In the U.S., women call men “My dear”; In China, women call husband “Damn”.

7. American women do not deliberately want his man to be kind to her; In China, women will say to men: Look, how well American men treat women.

8. American women are always grateful to the man who is kind to her; Chinese women think it is natural that men should be kind to women, or else they may think you must take advantage of them.

9. In the United States, after a woman has sex with you, mostly she does not know how much money in your pocket; In China, if a woman feels you are a pauper, she even dose not say “hello” to you.

10. American women will enjoy acceleration running fun in your luxury BMW car; While Chinese women sitting in your BMW car will belittle Buick car on the side.

11. American women do not refuse those men who try to get close to her; Chinese women think the men who get close to her must have some special purpose and want to take advantage of her or behave like a hooligan.

12. In the U.S., if you meet above-mentioned Chinese women, they must marry a useless American man and then write how happy her marriage is; In China, if you come across a Chinese woman like American woman described above, she must be the gem, and you should cherish her.(China Whisper)

I'll give CDaily this, I would rather read silly tongue in cheek jokes than the kind of serious racial stereotyping which is all that CSmack peddles these days.

Hmm. The article is utter nonsense. However, the topic may be worth pursuing. Some 30-40 years ago, I had an American GF, and a Greek, an Israeli, a French.........I liked to sample the "exotic", as with food and wine.  Get my drift? Now I' m married to a Chinese.
NB.
Women are women. They share characteristics, the obvious aside. Stereotyping women by nationality/race/ethnicity doesn't work. Statistics don't prove anything; 85% of people know that. There are some cultural expectations you may have of different nationalities, but all generalisations are false. I invite students of logic to attack this piece of research.
So there.

It sounds like the writings of an unhappy man. My observations are that there appears to be more than a little bit of truth there. I really hate to see a woman belittle a man and vice versa. I was sitting next to a husband and wife yesterday at the Casino. They were of Greek origin and neither speak English very well. They have been communicating with me for a few years and it appears that finances are tight. The husband sat like a puppy at a poker machine while the wife played the machine next to it. Every "win" she had, she would take out the money and occasionally put a coin in his machine. He was not "allowed" to play without her say so and he spoke only when spoken to. I felt so sad to see this behaviour, given that I know that life is too short to waste it. I had to leave before I stepped out of line. bibibibibi

Later on I read some of the other lists they have come up with. The common theme is that western types are to be admired because everything they do is better and the Chinese should do whatever they can to latch on to a foreigner.

I think that from the list above, you can completely switch the two (American and Chinese girls) and the list is still true. Stereotyping happens everywhere and this kind is prevelent in China (was that stereotyping?) And of course its skewed because here they only see a small cross-section of other countries. All I know is that if I was the role model for my country, there'd be no Chinese in Canada.

Just for larfs, #10 is the funniest apart from all the sexual contrasts. For this, #9 is a hoot too!

I hear this one quite often from not only my wife's friends (they all tell her they are jealous), but also from visitors, especially after my wife asks me to do the dishes or some other chore.

I always hear later that when they asked their husband to do the dishes and after they ask why it always is "'Mrs. Casey's' AMERICAN husband does it for her whenever she asks. If he can, so can you!"

I have a *ahem* special friend. And I'm always asking him, "how is it different being with an american," and "how is sex different between an american and chinese." and he walkways looks at me like I'm an idiot. "No different," he says. That's just one of the reasons I like him. Gilrs are girls, and individually they can suck, or be relaxed and cool, or bossy and whatever. But nationally, you just can't stereotype like that.

My observations here in Australia are that many Asian women appear subservient, but on closer and longer observation, I gain the impression that ultimately they get what they want. They also appear to mix more easily with males of other nationalities, whereas the Asian males, particularly the older ones, don't mix well with females of other nationalities. I have been here in Brisbane for about 11 yrs and I attend the Casino regularly. I know many of the Asian males by sight, however there is not and never has been even one who has voluntarily sat at my table and had a conversation with me. To prove a point to myself, I have forced the issue on a couple of occasions. The point I am trying to make is that an Anglo male will often ask to sit at my table especially if it is crowded and he will usually strike up a conversation. I notice the same type of behaviour when an Asian male sits beside an Anglo woman whilst at the Poker machines. I also have made it my business to watch Asian males to see if they show any type of interest in any non Asian ladies and I have to say that is EXTREMELY rare. You guys would know what I mean when I say that you will turn to look at an attractive young lady even if you are in a happy relationship; it is just human nature. I'm sure that a lot of you will also strike up a conversation with a member of the opposite sex, even while you are waiting for a bus. What I am trying to say is that I don't observe this type of behaviour in the Asian male, even in the shopping centres. I expect it would be different in a place where there were only a few Anglos as I expect that their natural curiosity would make them turn around for a look. I hope I'm not coming across as racist here because I am really just puzzled by the Asian male's behaviour in my Country. Has anyone got any possible answers?  I've just noticed that this is an on topic area, so I hope I haven't upset the apple cart. bibibibibi

I think a lot of them are intimidated by western women to be honest. They receive next to no sex education and they see TV shows with western women going out, having multiple sexual partners, having orgasms and boasting about it. They probably believe all western women are like this and they probably feel they wouldn't be able to handle one  bhbhbhbhbh

Hence the shyness...

Thanks Arnold J. I had wondered if they may have heard the same types of stories that we hear about the "size" of Asian folk as opposed to non Asians. I understand (on good authority) that this is not necessarily true. Last week, a Chinese lady gave birth to a 6.1kg baby! aoaoaoaoao aoaoaoaoao

I gotta get me one of them American women!  I can't seem to find them in the bride catalogs.  Oh wait; I'll just go home next summer.  I think these lists are often written by people who aren't adjusted socially and believed by people who want a short-hand description of the world.

Lowly paid writers just regurgitate this sort of stuff from the internet, change the words around and churn it out with the aim of increasing the website's search engine rank. Even the big respectable newspapers are full of this sort of crap now because hardly anyone pays for the physical copy

Having been marred to Mrs. Casey for 9 1/2 years has been an experience.

Ever since the day we married, she has been my harshest critic and my staunchest defender. She will laud my virtues to her family and friends, but will not hesitate to cut me down to size when she feels I screwed up.

She is not above using my deepest fears when she wants to make a point, but can also forgive me and let me know that while I may still be in the doghouse, I'm still her #1 (actually #1.5- Little Lexi is really #1).

She also enjoys playing pranks on me because she knows I'm gullible enough to believe she is for real when she goes into "Female Dragon" mode and manages to scare the bejesus out of me.

Compared to my ex-wife, she is one of the kindest most loving women I have ever know and would not give her up for anything.

Seriously, when I first posted the article, I found it hard to believe that many Chinese really believe it. I shouldn't be surprised, but this kind of generalization is rarely correct. If it was originally done for fun and humour, I can laugh with it. But as it stands, I laugh at it

http://www.chinawhisper.com/the-10-reasons-chinese-women-marry-foreign-men/

A few days ago, I saw a report that many women in Shanghai expressed their minds of marrying foreign men, and some clever people started to do the business of introducing Chinese ladies to foreign men. Why these Chinese women are proud of marrying foreign men and consider it as a fashion. I think there are several reasons:

1. In Chinerse women`s mind,  foreign men are richer, so marrying foreign men means a lot of money. At present, China is still a developing country and not rich, so finding a foreign husband is like marrying a purse. Many Chinese women try to marry foreigners, if they can not go abroad, at least they want to marry men from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan.

2. Marrying a foreign man means good social status. China now is always trying to attract foreign investors and many Chinese worship all foreign things; So marrying foreign man is naturally followed by the rise in status.

3. Marrying foreign man can meet Chinese woman’s vanity. All Chinese women have vanity, marrying foreign men can achieve their own goals and please their vanity.

4. Marrying foreign man is a springboard to achieve their purpose of going abroad. Many Chinese people want to go abroad, but have few opportunities,  so some marrying a foreign man can achieve their purpose of living abroad easily.

5. Chinese women think foreign men are more gentlemanly. They often learn from movies that foreign men are very polite and gentle; naturally these gentlemen attract a large number of Chinese women.

6. Marrying foreign men can meet their own freshness and curiosity. They already get used to Chinese men and are too familiar with their style, so they want to make some changes.

7. Some Chinese women build up relationships in their daily life, naturally they will marry foreign men. Some Chinese women study abroad or work in foreign-funded enterprises, so they often have chance to communicate with foreign men. Of course, women will marry foreign men after they have affections.

8. They like foreigners` living habits and customs; they want to pursue foreign life ways through international marriage. Some Chinese women begin to like foreign life style from childhood through literature or media, so they would like to achieve their purpose through marrying foreign men.

9. Chinese women think foreign countries can achieve the equality between men and women, and Chinese always have concept that men are  superior to women, so they marry foreign men and hope to have equal life and work opportunities.

10. Some foreign countries put forward preferential policies to attract Chinese talents; naturally some talented Chinese women also have chances. If they move and work abroad, usually their first choice is to marry foreign men.

I observe a lot of young Asian Males here at the "High Rollers" section of the Casino. I then wonder where the attractive Asian ladies are and then I wonder why they are not trying to catch these apparently wealthy guys instead of picking up some of the Anglo "drop kicks" I see them with. I must confess that it is a bit of a mystery to me given my observations of what appears to be the basic nature of many of the Asian folk that I observe in different situations, particularly at the Casino, but also in the shopping centres and on Public Transport etc. I consider myself to be an impartial observer, particularly since Australia now has so many different races living here. When you see people in the same environment and then see how the different races respond to the same situations, is really interesting.

I feel like this was written in 2002. Are there actually still Chinese people, in 2013, who look at a foreigner, much less a foreign teacher, and go "Yes! My ticket to financial security and social status!" I mean, Chinese people other than noodle sellers and street sweepers? Do foreigners really still think they're impressing the Chinese with their 6000rmb a month?

Granny Mae, the wealthy Asian guys you see there are no doubt already married. Unless the attractive Asian ladies fancy being someone's mistress, there's not much to gain by picking one up. Chinese people, male or female, by and large do not stay single much past the age of 30, and the wealthy rarely live like monks. A guy with money enough to be gambling it away at a Casino in Australia is not hurting for female companionship in any case, assumed penis size notwithstanding. Will he bring his wife, or even his (long term, respectable) girlfriend, with him to the casino? Unlikely. That's "xiao san" territory.

In some places yes. Back in Changchun there are many Germans who work with FAW. Some of these guys get 1000 Euros a week. This translates to around 40,000 RMB per month. Lots of girls fawn over these fun loving boys awawawawaw

And believe it or not there are many girls a peg or two above the noodle sellers and street sweepers who think 6,000 is a King's ransom. Compared to their 1,500 a month and our free housing, we are quite the catch

I won't flame you DS. I was mostly just being intentionally contrary, because, like you, I get sick of the stereotypes about who will or won't date whom and why.

I do think the days when foreigners (legit multinational managers aside, and even then, what amounts to basically 80k USD a year is a nice salary, but ... that's really all it is) were at the top of the payscale food-chain, are pretty much gone, although there is certainly a lot still riding on the idea that "You make 5x a local! You will live like a king in China!" But that's a discussion for another thread. ;)

I don't think that foreigners are seen as automatically richer etc anymore, but except for teachers, a large proportion of the foreigners here actually are upper middle class so they actually are pretty well off at home and better off here, which certainly doesn't hurt

I think something that has remained for a lot of girls is the idea of marrying a foreigner as a way to escape, not from the poverty but from the culture. A lot of Chinese families still have their weird traditions and customs about getting married, one of the other teachers here married a girl who is very modern and independent and everything as far as I know (I've known them for a few years but she isn't close friends with me or my wife...) and there was quite a lot of crap that the guy went along with from her family about Chinese traditions etc that our Chinese friends were quite surprised that it all still applied to her marrying a laowai, I think you can sometimes get out of it by saying it's too different to the culture...

I think a lot of people still want to get out of China as well. There is a lot of money and industry etc here now but they still don't trust the government.....

I think it's also a function of biology in that more successful herds (social animals) bring in fresh blood (DNA)from time to time.  This translates to sexual attraction for the exotic among some individuals.  Throw in some 'nurture'(strong cultural identity, few foreign influences, crowded conditions, social pressures to conform) and it's almost surprising that more Chinese women and men aren't attracted to us.  Some are just curious and their attraction is not stronger than the cultural ties, but others will no doubt be satisfied by no less than a full blown laowai marriage.

I think I missed the part about public commentators who worry about miscegenation. Could you elaborate on where it is found above (or was a post removed?)  Or are you referring to the original quoted material? If it was my post, the one right above the quoted post, then I must take some responsibility for that misperception.  As someone who lives in China and is interested in human behavior, I think it is a valid topic and an interesting one that isn't well served by a top-ten list.

If it seems that I was singling out Chinese biologically, then yes, it does indeed read as racist.  That wasn't my intent, as I was trying to describe the human condition.  We just happen to be people that mostly live in China and the topic was about Chinese people and their relationships with and to foreign people.

I should signal my intuitive connections a little more clearly. I was commenting on the whole phenomenon of Chinese commentators identifying these kinds of relationships as somehow special. However chipper and cheerful the China Daily list, for instance, there's still an implicit claim that something has gone wrong and the actions of these women needs clarification.

What makes it odder still is their action as a group requires some kind of summary. They are a category of women, the ones who married outside.

Does it happen often enough to be worthy of comment? That it is commented upon probably isn't a reflection on the women in question.

1. They're racist.

Full disclosure: single and possibly content. The burden of understanding one Chinese woman and fighting off her whole society... it's like a prima facie proof you shouldn't do it.

roadwalker, I too am really interested in human behaviour. I choose to observe but not become closely involved with anyone. I find this topic really interesting as an older Anglo woman who grew up in a mainly male environment. I have concluded that it really comes down to the saying "To each his own said the old girl as she kissed the cow". In my own case, a partner needs to be on my wavelength and it doesn't matter what colour the person is. As an example, I would find it much easier to relate to a male of another race, who was born and raised in my Country, than one who was not, because of the differences. This is why I am interested in how you guys see this specific topic. I appreciate the honesty being shown here, because too often people are afraid to express their views on subjects like this one. bfbfbfbfbf
