Title: Happy Dragon Boat Day!
Post by: Escaped Lunatic on June 18, 2018, 02:54:37 AM
Happy Dragon Boat Day!  Time to row row row all the boats. agagagagag agagagagag agagagagag

For reasons not made clear, my village decided to start the annual festivities today instead of sometime last week.  I've got about an hour an a half until it's supposed to be time to drag the boats out of the sheds.

Up until 3 weeks ago, the pond was drained for maintenance.  If the rains hadn't come, we would have been dragging the boats. ahahahahah

Someone snuck the boats out early and didn't tell me. llllllllll

I also had to sign a waiver.  That's a first.  Turns out there's a huge paranoia about something going wrong after some other province had an issue and drowned 11 dragon boat crew members.

So, anyone not a villager has to sign a waiver (nice to see a special rule applies to more than just me).
For the time being, I'm just a rower.  I may not get a chance to captain this year. ananananan
No one under 18 or over 60 is supposed to be in the boats.  I think this one is already starting to get broken on both ends of the age spectrum.
We've got lifesaver rings in the boats and hanging here and there around the edge of the pond.  I need to find a big, fat laundry marker and start  writing things like SS Minnow and Titanic on these. ahahahahah

Someone's being attentive.  I missed it, but my wife had pics of one of the motor boats collecting a crewmember who went overboard.  He's got a life saver on.  Normally, crew who fall off either swim to shore or get picked up by one of the dragon boats.  Usually, the motorboats are only out on days when their's a parade or formal race and are parked on simple practice days.

Who decides on who is the boat's captain?

It's usually the guy in charge of that sector of the village (aka, the Sector Dude) and his assistant who captain the longboats.

I see the age restrictions are eroding.  I need to see if I can weasel my way into command this year or not.
