I was doing some research for a related topic and came across this. If this is your first time to come to China, regardless of reason, here is some gold. Sift through for what you need. I found it to be factual and very matter of fact.

Also, when you need to have a large bulky object placed in a taxi trunk, get the driver to load and unload it. Just place it behind the car and feign ignorance.

Some taxi drivers will claim you broke a tail-light or some other object in the trunk when you loaded or unloaded. 

And always have you money ready and in your hand when you get into a taxi at night. Knew two tipsy FTs who lost their wallets in a taxi counting out the fare. Money in hand, wallet stays in front pocket.
