Moving
« on: September 08, 2012, 03:34:42 PM »
I have search the site but have not found a answer, although it seems like someone would have asked this already.  Anyway, my question has to do with changing residence within the same city - simply moving from one apartment/hotel to another nearby.  If I am on a residence permit do I have to go through some sort of big procedure or is it sufficent to just get the accomodation permit thingy from the landlord and bring it to the local PSB to let them know I moved?
How much of a hassle are we talking about here?

I just took the new appt contract, landlords details and old police registration to the police station and it was fine - in my case it was the SAME police station though.

Depends where you live but usually the process is fairly straightforward. You have to re-register with the police station any time you move. In Beijing we've always had to bring a copy of the lease, a copy of the landlord's ID card, and a copy of my passport.
