He, he, What a hoot!  The Goodyear Blimp is a common sight in my hometown (in Ohio.) The headquarters are a few miles away in Akron. The huge hanger was in Ellot.

Probably the real deal. Two possibilities come to mind:

The sarcastic possibility is Goodyear sent it here on a "friendship mission" to improve the ties between the U.S. and Chinese tire industry.

More probably, but it still invites sarcasm, a couple of years ago another tire company with a blimp (Michelin, Pirelli?) had their blimp flying around our fair city for three days. I was up in one of the revolving, building-top restaurants and we could see the blimp floating around the city. My friends told me that the Whatever Tire Company had a special promotion going on for these three days - buy a full set of their top-grade, VIP tires for your car and you were entered in a "lucky draw" for a 1/2 hour blimp ride around the city.

So check the local tire markets. Is Goodyear running a promotion?

A third possibility just occurred to me....did they move the Rose Bowl to Shenzhen this year?

A "special" tyre promo is why it was in Jinan.

Here it is, 7 am, raining, and I am waiting for a taxi!

my flatmate brought this back from Oz & was quite excited telling me about the fun night it would soon surely bring...
the next morning I guess he must have been wanting to feel it's power through the bottle, but as I now understand, Oz quality control isn't as it could be in regards to the green mesh bottle wrapper/sleave it came with cause as he held it in awe, the bottle slipped out & Crashed into wet pieces...

ahahahahah

I took this as I walked around today in a t-shirt, I thought about youz in the whiter parts with your parts getting whiter.

Some photos from my time in Harbin.

One of the entrances to the Snow Sculpture Exposition on Sun Island Park. Thanks to Lonely Planet I believed that Ice and Snow World was also on Sun Island Park, it isn't. Long story short, instead of going into the Snow Sculpture Exposition I wandered around Sun Island Park, never found Ice and Snow World (on this day), and the Snow Sculpture Exposition closed.

Finally made it to Ice and Snow World. I call this The Blue One.

Central area of Ice and Snow World.

Snow Tigers

In which I inadvertently rip off a photographer featured in the Boston Globe's Big Picture blog. http://www.boston.com/bigpicture/2010/01/harbin_ice_and_snow_sculpture.html My apologies to Aly Song and Reuters. The two photos would make a great find the differences game. You could pretend you're at a bar feeding quarters to the machine.

I never climbed any of the sculptures. I was having a hard enough time staying upright on the icy ground.

The vendors are selling some sort of candied fruit on a stick thing. Does anyone know what they're called?
