America's first female astronaut to make it into orbit (ask me about the Mercury 9 sometime to hear about those who were trained and not sent) has passed on due to cancer at age 61. ananananan

It took a long time for the US to catch up to the Soviets with a female astronaut.  I'm pleased that Sally Ride got to live to see a Chinese woman match her accomplishment.

Here's to you Sally.  Rest in Peace Space.
