春节愉快 everyone! My husband is in the kitchen preparing our new year's dinner this very moment -- we got some huge massive shrimps at the market this morning! Also picked up some sparklers and roman candles for the kids (we go for the low-noise fireworks, not that it matters when the entire neighborhood sounds like a war zone!) for tonight, and are planning to head out to Chaoyang park for a temple fair tomorrow.

Hope the Tiger Year is a great one for us all!

Happy new year from my brother-in-law's new home in sunny (but kind of cool) Changchun. Nice place! Little ones are behaving at the moment, women are in the kitchen prepping jiaozi, and I'm in front of a 'puter.  agagagagag   agagagagag   agagagagag

With you on that one.  How was I to refuse when a makeshift fireworks shop opened up just outside my apartment this morning?

It doesn't feel like Spring Festival without fireworks. I'm determined to go back to China for the next one. At least we'll have a lot of food tonight (jiaozi, dapan ji, mala niurou, and whatever else my wife has planned).

That's why last year was better, ox is tastier and no, tiger doesn't taste like chicken.

I just spent the last hour and a half outside blowing up a small part of this country. Gotta love it, right in the middle of the street.

BTW, now I'm both blinded and deaf

I think I burned my apartment down.

No, never mind. It wasn't mine.
