Quote..(today I took this wit me phone...)...is this beach really in China?? If so, I must find it. Please tell us all where it is. I have only seen beaches that are not at all clean, and in fact, to an Australian, downright disgusting!! I really miss the sea and the beach.

At first glance, I thought the kid was pulling a smoke out of a packet.
-
It was a school excursion on the Dragon Boat festival holiday that was visiting the Snow beer factory at the same time as my friends & I. The little tackers parents were watching the goings-on proudly as the kids ganbei'd, staggered, fell over & finally puked (about 7 minutes from go to blow). The little girls were the funniest to watch.
We watched them with a mixture of concern, amusement and disbelief as we sampled the crates of free, ice cold Snow.
-
Were the parents really letting kids drink beer?
-
That's just...wrong.

Went to the park in Baicheng a little while ago. I still shoot 35mm and I managed to find a photo lab that will scan my negatives and burn the files to a CD. A miracle in itself considering that, as far as I know, this is the only park in Baicheng.
-
Stunning picture
-
Lovely, Dog! Film still has its practitioners, but I'm now a digital fan.
-
did you actually find b&w film? It is rare to find anymore. Like George, my 35 SLRs are filed away collecting dust along with all the lenses and crap. I'm much too lazy in my slightly more mature version of myself. Dark rooms and chemicals have given way to a digital memory card.
A great photo of Baicheng!
-
Thanks for the kind words everyone. I brought a supply of film with me from home. As far as digital vs. film goes, I'll use whatever camera I have with me. My digital point and shoot, and camera phone get used as much as the 35mm, if not more.

They get around...was in Jinan last year.
-
He, he, What a hoot! The Goodyear Blimp is a common sight in my hometown (in Ohio.) The headquarters are a few miles away in Akron. The huge hanger was in Ellot.
-
Probably the real deal. Two possibilities come to mind:
The sarcastic possibility is Goodyear sent it here on a "friendship mission" to improve the ties between the U.S. and Chinese tire industry.
More probably, but it still invites sarcasm, a couple of years ago another tire company with a blimp (Michelin, Pirelli?) had their blimp flying around our fair city for three days. I was up in one of the revolving, building-top restaurants and we could see the blimp floating around the city. My friends told me that the Whatever Tire Company had a special promotion going on for these three days - buy a full set of their top-grade, VIP tires for your car and you were entered in a "lucky draw" for a 1/2 hour blimp ride around the city.
So check the local tire markets. Is Goodyear running a promotion?
A third possibility just occurred to me....did they move the Rose Bowl to Shenzhen this year?
-
A "special" tyre promo is why it was in Jinan.
Here it is, 7 am, raining, and I am waiting for a taxi!

by the way, do you use photobucket to host your pics, or something else? I've noticed that when I put the pics up online using photobucket they become vaguely pixelated, maybe due to resizing? They originals are HUGE files, and they're not pixelated in the slightest, as I shot using RAW and converted to jpegs that are like 3800x2500. I guess it isn't important, but kind of annoying to see nice clean shots show up with jagged edges and such.
-
Ld, nice shooting. I use Photobucket, and run all my uploads through a jpeg optimizer. This cuts down the file size, thus making them load faster. I also resize them to 650 pixels wide.
-
I shoot in RAW as well, then resize in CS4 to 600x400, then upload to Photobucket. Otherwise it will resize them itself and I think that causes some of the problem.
-
Ok yeah, I just did a test. If I use PB to resize it ends up sort of pixelated, but if I resize in CS4 it doesn't. Thanks for the tip! bfbfbfbfbf
